Thought I’d get a thread going so guys can exchange pictures and ideas of their new bike and people who are thinking about getting one can listen on and ask questions. I’d love to get this thread started with a picture of mine but unfortunately dealers in SoCal are fresh out. Let’s get this thread going and make it as big as the one for the KX450!
First ride, itching for more!
The Shop
I bet that new clutch is amazing. Are you guys able to ride more towards the end of the day because of the new frame?
I am a 150 pound used to be fast guy and every test said they had to stiffen the suspension up to the max, but I felt it was the opposite for me. I had to go 6 clicks softer on the fork compression to get them rideable. I know the springs are still breaking in some. I wanted a true test on the first ride so I showed up at the track at 2pm to ride all the rough, rutted, and choppiness I could find to help dial it in.
On the positive side, the hydraulic clutch is incredible. The bike feels extremely light and thin, it corners better than I had hoped. The ECU dirtiness is completely over exaggerated by the shootouts and magazine test riders.
We can work with the suspension, overall I am very happy with my purchase. My yoshimura exhaust is on order!
2017-2020 Hinson clutch cover fits as well.
Got the Pro Action suspension on it. They did similar valving, pistons, and springs that my 17 and 19 had. Threw on my IMS pegs. Got an ARC front brake lever. Need some new grips ASAP.
Items im waiting on:
-Ride Engineering lowering link. Big fan.
-ARC Clutch lever (Is the master cylinder the same as the kx450f? Maybe just buy one for that bike?)
-Plastic. Bike looks sweet, but the plastic is very minimal. Few attachment points and less robust than previous years.
Love the bike. Gave a full review in one of the other topics. This is the bike that will keep me from buying a ktm 350.
Complaints... Everything inside the sub-frame is complete chaos. The bike looks awesome bolted together. Awful fit/finish. In taking the rear shock off, I really got a taste for what going on there. We say at work "10 pounds of shit in a 5 pound bag" - exactly what doing on. Cool that they moved the battery down there, the plastic box is garbage. Modifications to the terminal connectors to put my Anti-gravity lithium battery in resulted in a poor cover fit. The whole airbox just kinda floats in the middle of the subframe and vaguely gets held in place by i think 2 bolts. Side number plates have zero strength to them and the clip/slide is something i would expect to see on a crf50. Im not impressed by the reduction of hardware. Oddly thats one of the features they presented in the 2021 release. Hondas re-design in this area is a poor effort compared to what yamaha did flipping the engine backwards and logically laying out fit/finish on the intake. I still think the 09-12 crf450 had the best plastic and sub-frame/seat layout. Oh well.
Pit Row
So my dealers telling me that honda changed their order from 1 450r and 3 450L's to 4 450L's without telling them. Claiming he can't get ahold of his rep or anyone in california. Duno wtf is going on now..
Kinda like my gf.
Where did all the dirtbikes go ?
