I'm looking at buying an enclosed trailer and wanting to see some pictures to get ideas on configurations.
I'm thinking something between 6x12 and 7x14. I haul 2 or 3 bikes at a time. I want to add beds that will fold up against the inside, AC, lights, some cabinets and so fourth. Also a water container for washing bikes and maybe even one of those camping showers. Show me what you got, if you want to.

Thanks

You might want to stretch it to 16 ft with dual axles for what you are wanting to add to it. Going to have to have room for the generator as well if you plan on running an a/c.

I just got a 6X12, fills up quick. For everything you want, I would agree you need a tandem axle 16'. I got tons of great ideas off an old forum thread on thumper talk, dozens of pages. Just google mx enclosed trailers thumper talk...be prepared to spend hours digging through it all. Good luck with the project!

I second this. I am a trailer/RV technician and I see a lot of enclosed trailer “conversions” that are just outright horrible. I know they can be done right, but most of the time they aren’t. Just buy a used toy hauler already set up, it’ll save you time and money in the end.

Looking at used toy haulers people still ask 15k ten years later for 12 footer. I’d probably do a conversion too. Bucket with camping toilet bags, jug of fresh water, shower bag, fold up cot, a good cooler, roof ac, good enough. Well, probably not sufficient to bring the inlaws along but that wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing.

I think the reason i'd rather spec out a 16 foot trailer as opposed to buy a 16 foot toy hauler is because the toy hauler is still a camper. And everybody knows, campers are built like crap. Coming from a guy who has a camper thats a toy hauler, it's still my belief, they're all junk.

I did a lot of research on this for a while. What I found is that if you want toilets, showers, beds then just get a used toyhauler. All of the builds take way more time and $ than just buying a used one. Or, if you insist on an enclosed cargo conversion you can buy those used too. You can buy them super cheap because none of the additions add any value to the trailer at all. Every piece of advice by people who have done it that I was told or that I read is to NOT DO IT.

What's going on with those mx mounts? Does that have to be bolted down to the bed of the truck? Looks pretty interesting.

The mx mounts are sweet! I ended up doing a turnbuckle setup to keep costs down...spent around $20 and love it. Here is a pic of someone else's setup that is similar.

Currently running a 6x12 single axle. It is good because its free thanks to it sitting on the in-laws farm unused other than hauling christmas wreathes to eastern NC once a year. 2 bikes, gear and tools is about all it can handle without being a stacked clusterfuck.

I would opt for a 7x16 V Nose, build a counter into the nose to house a toolbox, fluids etc. Put E Track on the floors for strapping down bikes and place wheel chocks accordingly that can be removed easily. Hooks on walls for hanging sweaty wet gear. etc. A lot more is going to come down to getting the right trailer that has tighter OC support spacing all around. It makes a difference in the way the trailer handles added weight but also the way it handles going down the road too. That is just the basics. Had a buddy turn a 20ish foot car hauler into a poor mans toyhauler with shower and all and it fills up fast once you lose the realestate on the floor that it takes up. Oh and for AC... INSULATE, INSULATE, INSULATE.

Here is my 7x16. I bought it brand new and built it all out myself. Some things you don't see, I added a deep cycle battery that powers an inverter/power strip so I can run a fan at night or charge my phone. The battery will last 3 nights running a fan and charging my phone. I also have 2 pass through plugs on the front. One to power another power strip for the more taxing electronics and another one that is wired directly to the AC unit.

Yes, they must be bolted down. I have mine anchored through the trailer frame. They fold flat when not in use. Super easy/quick to use. Bikes don't move at all. Quite a bit of good info on the website.

This is my 6x12. I am able to get two bikes in forward using the bike boots, and one in backwards with a removable wheel chock. Like others have said it fills up fast with bikes in there but I lined the cabinet so that helmets could go inside of it and not get beat up, I also hang gear on the bar between it (the cabinet) and the Ez-Up. I don't see how it would be possible to get beds or anything like that on the walls and still haul three bikes because you have to kick the outside ones over so far, but It could possibly be done with just two bikes. No matter what you decide on good luck and let us know how it goes!
