Battled between 250f’s and 450’s for as long as I can remember. Always enjoyed the 250’s more, but with an open pro class where I live racing against 450’s always put me at a disadvantage.
Anyways, I always rode my bikes like Bam Bam. On the rev limited and typically a gear lower than I should be.
I switched it up this year and went with a FC350. It has completely changed me as a rider. Not necessarily faster, but actually riding a 4-stroke the way it should be. Quick shifts and low revs.
The funny thing is everyone told me and the Youtube videos I watched that you can rev this bike to the moon if you want. However, I never have because it doesn’t “feel” like I have to.
5hrs on the bike so far and very impressed with it. I never knew what to expect, but after riding it is so similar to a 250 with just a little more grunt. I certainly don’t think it feels like a 450 power wise.
Would be interested to hear other peoples transition to the 350 or from a 350 back to a 250 or 450.

The Shop
It was so cool to ride as soon as I bought it! I’ve been riding my RMZ250F for 11 years and occasionally my ‘04 RM250.
I rode about an hour and found it pretty easy to ride. I softened up the fork a bit and was very comfortable for getting on a different platform. I don’t have enough time on it to have more input. Needless to say, I can’t wait to get back out on a track.
For me its an amazing all around bike
After 7 hours on the bike the two things I have noticed are. More vibration in the handlebar and stalling in tight rutted corners in 2nd gear. I’m sure that’s more technique than bike. I’m going to go up to a 52 sprocket and see if that helps with the taller gear in corners.
Yamaha please make a 350!!!
I wish now I’d ridden a newer 350 before buying my Yamaha. Besides the 4CS debacle, I couldn’t gel with the power of my 15. It took too much energy for me to be quick. I’m a lugger, gear high rider, so after riding a friends 450, I sold my 350 the next weekend.
Now, after riding a friends 250 last weekend, I’m convinced 99% of the problem with my 15 was all suspension related haha.
Next bike might be another 350, becaus putting that Yz450f on the stand after a Moto is getting really fucking old.
Just ordered a Vortex for my 350, we will see if it is better than the stock ECU in about a week...

I like the KTM s, but the suspension SUX!
Yea it can be fixed at the cost of another $1000, as much as bikes cost shouldn’t have to spend another grand to get it rideable
That and the fact KTM's (parts and bikes) are super expensive. Last time I did the math, for the price of 3 250F's I could only get 2 350's...
I haven’t noticed parts prices being more, seems like I get more life out of KTM stuff. Love both of mine.
The engine is like a large small-bore 2 stroke with a perfectly linear powerband. Really like my ‘19 FC350.
