Could the collective vital brain trust raise enough money and arrange a racer to claim one of the top amateur bikes at LL's next year?

We could throw the rider some money for the trouble, ML could test it, Darkside can wreck it, then we can raffle it off to one of the contributors.

No back room deals, make it all public, not disclose who's bike we would claim (or even if we would claim one at all Wink ). Just keep the big teams on their toes and make them think twice about what equipment they bring next year.

Heck yeah and auction it off/part it out for the St. jude race.

We're big league now.

I like someone’s else’s idea:

I’m in.

Crowdfunding a claim, deliver to the last place rider.

Why wait for Loretta's? It'd be cheaper at Budds this weekend.

The point isn't really to get a bike, it's to publicly put the big teams on notice that the bikes they bring to the ranch are being hunted.

After this fiasco, no team bikes will be running factory parts next year, guaranteed.

I think we should crowd fund a new forum for everyone who doesn’t give a shit about the claim

In one of the interviews ML did, they had said a manufacturer already is having conversations on what they’re going to put on the bikes (or rather what they’re no longer going to) at these big events now.

Just sucks that nobody actually had to give up their secrets for people to remember that their bikes could not go home with them that weekend. What a ripple!

I think pre-meditated claiming should be illegal. Which sound like what this kid did in the first place. Just because you can claim a bike, doesn't mean you have to.

How are you supposed to not pre-meditate it? lol

It's not like you just go grab 17k our of your wallet because after moto 3 you decided you wanted to claim a bike out of nowhere.

Well at least I don't keep 17k in my wallet.

Being prepared to claim a bike by having money aside is one thing. Its entirely another if you raise money solely to claim a "team bike" only to be an jerk to one of your own competitors.

Is it being a jerk to one of your competitors by claiming a bike or is it being a jerk to all of your competitors by showing up with to an amateur race with a $50,000 bike? Let’s not forget why this rule exists, it’s important to keep things in perspective.

So accidental claiming should be encouraged then?

Getting paid double MSRP is a great deal for a rider that doesn't have a megabucks Star Racing machine. I have had no need to purchase aftermarket parts for well over 10 years but I would imagine that double MSRP is plenty for a brand new bike and a good amount of mod's. Am I off on that?
