I'm interested in buying the old Revolution Mx park in Union County SC. Interested in starting a run for the money series weekend practices, also restarting Mud bogs etc. Am I doing the right thing, or are there too many local tracks already.

Not familiar with the place, but if you like working with people probably listening to complaints when you think nothing is wrong at all. Sounds like a ton of weekends. Have you ever owned any other high service business? Just keep a bunch of money in reserve as things come up.

If it your dream to do it, research everything you need to, and if it still looks like something you would enjoy being challenged by, go for it! Nobody ever made any difference by taking the path of least resistance!

I have my own private track, and there is a ton of babysitting involved and I only let 15 members join per year initially. Now I only allow 2-3 guys ride there because it was just too much time and work involved. People expect the track to look like Stewart's backyard every time they show up to ride. Like what was said above you'll hear a lot of complaints even though nothing is wrong. Plus you'll always here the arguments about the track being "too easy" versus "too hard" and it's going to kill everyone.

The saying I love best is, "The best way to make a million dollars in the motorcycle industry is to start with two million."

If you really love it and want to do that and nothing else and don't want to make much money then go for it. Things I would check on first is insurance, attorneys, the local motocross shops, other local tracks, previous owners, etc.

make sure you're in it for the love of MX because most MX tracks dont make money and if they do, they break even

YES, Please. Theres not a ton of places to practice around here. I've never been to that track though, how was it and how is the dirt? Either way it gives another place to practice around here which would be awesome. SOO tired of riding at the same ol place.

Been there many times, there is good and there is bad.

Things to think about.
There is no water other than city water.( When they bought the place they had the option of getting more land that would give them access to the river. They did not buy it.) The city water bill is high I was told.
The dirt road going in needs gravel , about 1 mile off it.
The track is ok, there is sand but the rest is red clay, needs mulch or sand moved to some of the turns.
Like most tracks around here it was always to smooth.
The City of Union (made famous by the bitch Susan Smith) welcomed it along with the drag strip just up the road.
It did ok but would have been great with some work and a better water supply. JMO

what's more likely....in 25 year you will look back on it and think to yourself "I should have bought that fucking place" or will it be "I never should have bought this damn place" ?............................ I man without a dream, is a dead man

That's not true, at least up here it isn't. You wont be getting rich, but you will make some money if its a good facility.

Like that scene at the end of Ghostbusters...Ray, the next time someone asks if you’re a god, you say YES!
Same when someone asks if you want to buy a motocross track.
