Should I buy a new bike now, before they sell out?

I have around 72 hrs on my '21 350xcf, and it's my intention to by a new one in the spring of 2023 when it hits 100 hrs. When I bought my '21 new in March of 2021, I had to drive 3 states away because no one had any in stock. At the moment, only one shop within a reasonable distance from me has a 2023 FX350. I know a lot of shops haven't taken delivery of 2023s yet, but I worry that a lot of 350s are already spoken for. Do you think that it's safe to wait until spring, or should I scoop up a bike as soon as possible because the moto industry is still feeling the covid boom?

I would. I was in the same boat last Fall and since my local dealers had 2-3 of the bike I wanted I decided to wait. When February came, all the bikes were gone and I couldn't find any within a reasonable driving distance.

From what I’m seeing, if you REALLY have to get…or need…a new bike? I’d get the GasGas! It’s identical to your bike (same basic chassis) and that bike seems to be doing better than the “new” chassis.

I don’t see the after-market being as plentiful for the “new” bike very quickly due to the ongoing supply issues. Also, stuff for the “new” bike will likely be more expensive.

sales have really flipped in my area... nothing is moving... nothing is selling for any money... I've had a couple bikes on CL/FB and nearly zero replies.... my local dealers are slowly filling back up with inventory, at least on the MX side... Kawi seems to be winning the war of shipping the most product the last few months... Seems yamaha is one of the worst...

Buy the 23 FX 350 and sell your 21 now. The changes to the 2023 from 2022 are big, just like the big changes from the 2015 to the 2016 350’s.

On a desirable model like the 350 I would be snapping it up. Any time there is a model change for KTM the new gen bikes are gone super fast. I just left a KTM dealer and they had a pile of Gas Gas bikes and a few XCW/unchanged bikes on the floor.

So after reading the mixed responses here, I called my local shop and asked how many 350 allocations were spoken for. He said that I would be the first on the list... so now I’m first on the list haha. He said that KTMs were supposed to arrive in August but they’re still waiting. It also didn’t sound like they were getting a ton - seems like KTM is still a little unpredictable. Looks like I’ll be getting a bike sooner than anticipated… anyone want to buy a ‘21 350? Wink

Try not to sell the old one until the new one is in your garage, if you don't have to.
