Shit 250 2 strokes should be allowed in the 250 class. Id allow 500 2 strokes in the 450 class, so absolutely 300s should be allowed in the 65+hp 12,000 rpm traction controlled, adjustable mapping, launch control 450 class.
I think a better alternative would be a 2-stroke Sunday program.
125's only= 2 motos
250,300,500's (open class) =2 motos
Returning the Outdoors to a 2 day event!
If you’re talking for pro outdoor nationals....doesn’t matter. The top guys will be on 450s up front and a couple privateers would be rounding out the back on a 300 2 stroke.
You could allow whatever CC 2 stroke you want....it won’t be getting around as fast as a 450

And ET would still win on either 2 stoke or 4.

exactly why they should obviously be allowed
I would love to see how a factory built 300 would do. I’m sure a 450 would still own it, but didn’t they say RC’s last 250 was making about 62 HP. I probably read that wrong I’ll bet, right?
It is long past time for the diversity movement to make its way into moto. There is no one better engine technology. Affirmative motocross action will require at least 10 two strokes and 10 altas to line up at the gate.
I like what Canada did. Run the 2-stroke, but you must always run it in 250s

The 300 is NOT a better bike for motocross. Those who think it is clearly have not had the following explained to them
When you take a 250 designed bottom end and put a larger piston on the rod- it is more moving mass at the end of the stroke. Therefore it takes longer to rev and doesnt rev as high (where the meat of the power is).
Lettem run, sure, but nobody will.

^^Jeff is correct a mod 250 is way better than a 300. Hated the one I raced at Glenn Helen a few summers ago.
I do think the 125cc 2 stroke class for moving up from the 85cc class would be great for the "lites" or whatever the hell you want to call it class. That way there is actually separation between the lap times of the 450s and mx2 class and it truly is a big step up to be in the big bike class. Seeing pros ride 125s to the absolute limit is great to watch and it really separates the incredible riders from the average... like James Stewart. That being said its not happening so why do we keep talking about it over and over and over and over and over and over.

Agreed, the 300s I've tried on a moto track weren't that appealing. Mike Brown and I were chatting with this after he's raced the 300 at Straight Rhythm and at the two-stroke national...he said mod 250 over 300 all day.

And lap up to second place, right?

Open class, run what you brung, it's Merica!
I am Ropean and quite agree with this too !
I love it. My slow ass on my 250 2 stroke beats all the even slower asses on their 450s almost every week.
Edited Date/Time:
They could allow a 129472910cc two-stroke and the factory teams would still run 450s. Stop with these stupid threads, the 2-stroke is dead in high level pro racing wether we like it or not.
There would need to be an exception for privateers to switch if a team wanted to put them on the pay roll. Yeah straight 250cc and open. And the needed 125 class.
Forget it the japs would go bananas.....it would not be competitive anyway.
