Hey guys,

I know that the new Yamaha (2018-19 450F, 19 250F) is different, but was wondering if the shock from previous 14-17 models fit? I know that it fits into the mounting holes, but the service guy couldn't confirm whether it fits due to different frame... He mentioned something that the shock body could be hidden because of the new frame and that the new shock is slightly more angled.

Anyone with more info? Would like to pick an Ohlins shock from the 14-17 model, but would want to be sure before pulling the trigger.

Thanks

If it fits and clears everything it will work.
Measure both shocks from eye to eye to ensure they are the same length .
If one is longer a spacer can be added to shorten the shaft.
And of course it will need to be valved for the new bike.

Of course, but as I said I'm thinking about buying used shock and can't make the measurements. If I have it, it would be on the bike already.

FWIW I checked Ohlins suspension manuals for rear TTX shocks from 2017-2019 YZF450 and the shock length and stroke values are perfectly the same as 2017 YZF 250 and 450 Ohlins shock.
460mm length, 138mm stroke.

They are different: The eye to eye length is the same, and will fit, but the 2017 has a shorter body and longer shaft than the 2019, which has a longer body and shorter shaft. The 2019 has less shaft travel so the collapsed length of the 2017 shock is SHORTER and the tire will hit the fender.
