Seems like Shark Helmets have been out of the game forever or had a very small presence but looks like they are coming back in 2018. Jordi Tixier will be representing them starting at the Paris SX.

Michael do you have any information on these? I didn't see anything about them posted in your EICMA posts.

Here's Jordi Tixier's Paris SX Helmet

I like this one, granted it's custom painted but I like the shape of it.

I didn't see one at EICMA...I don't think they had a booth.

Looks a lot like the old SXR from ten years ago with a little botox and a quickie nose job.

Bit surprising if they plan on coming back next year. No idea of they plan on sticking to Europe or coming to North America as well.

Looks good though.

The good thing with Tixier is whenever he crashes, you know who you're gonna call.
(No, not the Ghostbusters).

It's an all new model so there's not much info on it. Not sure what kind of safety features are implemented in the helmet but for now here's what is known.

The one pictured is the Shark Varial.

- Sizes from XS to XXl
- 3 shell sizes for an optimized fit around the head.
- Removable and washable peak.
- Removable vents for an easy cleaning.
- Removable liner.
- Fiberglass Shell

Weight: 1350g (Size Small +/- 50g)

Price: saw a couple different prices but looks like it'll be around $450 USD.

shark helmets have been around here in europe for at least the last couple of years. I don't see many of them on the tracks though, they're more like an entry level helmets.

Pretty sure the reason you don't see that many around is because they had scaled back their presences in the MX/Off-road world but it does look like they're going to be getting back into it.

They might have entry level helmets just like any other brand but at aroud $450 USD for this new one it's priced to compete with some of the higher end helmets.

Besides that I don't think they would put a guy of Tixier's caliber in an entry level helmet. I'm glad they are coming back. I was a fan of them when DV12 was racing.

It will be tough for them to compete with no energy absorption system

You're right on that but I don't think they released all the information yet. Under norms there's nothing listed on their website.

Anyone know if Michael or GuyB is/are attending the Paris SX? Might want to have a chat with Tixier to see what he has to say about it.

That helmet looks awesome. Clean and simple with no ridiculous looking energy drink logos.

Had a red one back in '07 or so when I was on 65s/85s. Loved it back then but wouldn't buy one now it looks kinda cheap.

Ask Mike Alessi how well that Shark worked for him.

Pretty sure they've come a long way in the last 10 years. Personally I don't think it would of mattered what helmet brand he would of worn that day, the results would more than likely have been the same.

Considering it's one of his very few sponsors, I bet he looooooves it.

All riders love their sponsors and all say it's the best until they switch sponsors then that brand is the best.
