After seeing where he qualified 14 overall, what position would you guess he finishes tonight?

I'm a big Shane fan; but cracking the top 10 in this deep 450 field, on a 250, would be a tall order. I say finishes around 12-14

You have to remember, he's doing this kinda as an exhibition race. He still has his own series to stay healthy for. I'm not expecting 100% out of him.

He had a great race and finish despite 200cc's down.

He looked good tonight for sure.

Power didsdvantage was noticeable only in a few spots. Mostly after jumps that had to be scrubbed and back on the throttle situations. The 450's out torqued him.

I guess he did ok being on a 250 props to SM, but what was the point? So he got 12th in the main and couldn't keep up with the 450's for the most part. Any surprise there? About what I expected.

Well , RC mentioned that he was just wanting some more seat time , and instead of taking the weekend off he wanted to go racing. I think some people read to much into it. I don't think his plan was to set the world on fire , but to have some fun and see what it's like racing against a bunch of 450's. I wish more 250 rider's would do this. Not on just a 250 , but a 350 or a 450 and do some extra races if they get the chance.

You're right, he was the sole TLD KTM rider out there which is maybe more the reason he did it. It's not often we see things like this happen so I thought it was a good idea.

Impressive ride by him. Beat some big name including Seely, Bogle, Bowers and Chiz. Could see him as coops teammate next year.

Coops teammate? So where is Musquin going? (Insert eye roll)

Musquin will definitely outride Coop outdoors.

Hmm, not sure why you are so definitive about that. Webb has shown an Osbourne like improvement indoors this season and really seems to be jelling with the KTM. Will he take the same step outdoors? No one knows for sure at this point but its certainly possible. Webb has won an outdoor title and has never been known as a SX only guy. I think the Musquin-Webb outdoor predictions should be more 50/50 at this point.

I liked that they did some extended TV time on McElrath and Bowers during the heat race. Really let you see how it is; the 450 is a rolling road block coming into the corner, out accelerates the 250 but then gets reeled back in by the next corner. If this wasn't a low priority race for Shane I think he could have improved on his postion considerably.

I’d like to see a top guy do it in the outdoors where the less fatiguing 250 could really shine late in the moto. I believe an agressive rider like Osborne (or any number of the past 250 champs that struggle on the 450’s) could put one on the podium at some of the tracks.

SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON A SMOKER!
Since his results didn't really matter anyway.

I agree. Didn't even know he was riding a "250"

The 300 he did so well on at RBSR would have been sweet!

Anyone know how his lap times compared to the 250 east guys? I know he was on the track at different times and it was probably much tougher than it was during the 250 main. Just curious.

I thought the reason he rode his 250 is because it was such short notice, he didn't have time to test a 450? If he's going to be at a horsepower disadvantage, might as well be on a bike that's dialed in and he's used to.

Craig, according to RacerX, Shane's fastest lap in the main was 1:12-something, and Forkner, Sexton and Cooper were all in the 1:10 - 1:11 range. You're right, though, that could have had as much to do with track conditions as much as overall speed compared to those 3.
