The CR500 engine is more reliable than a claw hammer. And the cases shine up nicely.

Hey, that is nice! Did you sell me a 1990 CR500 in 1991 by any chance?

Looks good! Chain is too tight though.

Nope, wasn't me. But I will sell you a 2012 Service Honda, mint condition, powder-coated frame, polished engine, lots of extras, ... and chain will be adjusted correctly before sale.

My experience was I couldn't get them to sell me a set of CR500 engine cases. I grenaded the engine in my first aluminum frame conversion in 2013, and when I tried to buy a new set of OEM cases, I learned that they couldn't sell the left side case unless I supplied them with the serial number of the original CR500 chassis that the cases came from. I couldn't do this, and after trying unsuccessfully to get some 500 owners to loan me their serial numbers, I had to give up and buy a used set of cases off of Ebay. Apparently it has to do with theft control.

I was probably the dick in this particular
transaction. I was pretty big for my age, probably about 6'1 and 195, so the guy was not too worried about me. I do remember how much it hurt to kickstart the thing for my test ride with pennyloafers on. Idiot. god I was an idiot

Was going to post this.

These are loved on the Cr500 forums. They recently came out with an electric start setup for the 'ol girl also, works on OEM and their cases.

And also big barrels and special cranks...
I raced 500 CRs for years, and I'd really love to get a ride on a 630 with electric start...

That's what motor I run in the bike in the avatar, love the 500.
She's easy to start if you know the sequence, 1 kick 90% of the time.

I bought a used CR500 when I was 15. I was 6ft 1 and 175 lbs. I rode the hell out of it for 2 years and lived to remember it. Some kids can handle it. Some die instead.

I still make them,(since 2014)many known CR500 engine builders use them regularly in their builds, and have been for some time.

It's all about the sequence, and kicking it like you mean it.
