God damn it, it sucks growing up. The wife and I are looking at houses and the realtor swore up and down 'oh yeah, we'll get you into a rural development loan/house and there will be no down payment required'. So all is well and dandy, until they found out how much I make a year, and I guess I don't qualify for it.... Make too much. It's a good problem to have, but now we're kinda screwed. I'm getting laid off for 2 months, so we've been saving for that..... But I think I'm going to sell my bike. THIS BLOWS. Im still recovering from the ACL replacement so I won't be riding until may anyway, but I really don't want to part ways with it. Anyone else have to sell their baby for something like this? I would rather have a house than a bike, so it needs to happen. But in just torn up over it.

sell it l, take a break, recover, but your house and start over. It will force you to let your injury heal and you will enjoy it even more when you come back. I was off for 10 years. So 8 months will be a breeze. You will get back on like you were never off. Arm pump and stamina is the biggest thing. Nothing to do but ride that stuff out.

I second that. The house is more important. The bikes will always be there. And if it makes you feel any better, you'll probably be so busy moving and getting the house organized and all that shit that you probably wouldnt get to ride it much anyways

Yep growing up sucks but it's part of life. I agree with above. Having your own place is a great thing and taking time to heal properly (without the temptation to ride) will help. You will come back stronger with a renewed passion I think. I have been lucky and haven't been hurt for a while so when I get burned out I take a break and when I come back I am ready to go. Different circumstance with you but it will be the same. Congrats on the house and good luck!

I had to sell 3 bikes a travel trailer and still borrow money to buy a girlfriend out of her half of a house and am glad I did it.
I now own the house mortgage free and she squandered her money and lives in a cheesy apartment, she always said the best revenge is living well,so that's what I'm doing, she hates it.
Sell the bike heal up and and get that house and when you can buy another bike.

My bike is a 2014 KTM. If I sold it I would buy my old 2003 CR125 back from the guy who bought it from my dad. Net about 4500 bucks and get the house we want. It's on a country club, has a shed, and is surrounded by 500,000 dollar houses. That's not a lot to you Cali guys, but in Saginaw Mi it's a god damn mansion. It's almost too good of a scenario to pass up so the bike is gone if someone offers me something reasonable.

Been there and done that a few times for a few differnet reasons. My solution was to buy an old beater in the interim and redo it over time just so I don't totally lose touch with the hobby. I've done a 05 CR 250 as an MC replica, and a 94 KX 250 with a modernized look. I think you're idea for the 2003 is on the money, plus that bike will still be fine to play on.

This is not the end, it's just a break!

Let me know when you get the 03 cr125. I have a brand new set of suspension for that bike that I removed after purchasing new. I replaced it with ohlins and the set has been in my basement since 03.

Don't feel to bad about having to sell a bike to get into a house. I'm a licensed contractor up here in the NW and I've had the worst 4 months I've ever had. Damn near had to sell one of my bikes to just put food on the table. Hard to get a head when no money is coming in. This is going to be a rough winter. Good luck on getting your house King.

I know exactly how you feel, I'm planing on moving back to NC next summer and someone is coming to pick up my last bike tomorrow. It's going to be the first time I haven't had something to ride in 8 years. But I'll pick u p another after I settle in NC

Buy the house get a home equity line and max it out buying toys that you don't really need, it's the American way.

Make her sign a contract that you can buy a bike in the next year , as soon as YA get in they get the remodeling bug " to put there stamp on it" its all down hill from there , but buy the house if you can afford it

Lifted crew cab F-350 diesel should be first on that list. And don't even bring it home until you get it straight piped with an 8" tip.

That is tough. I have a 2005 cr 125 that I'm redoing right now; great bike but my Ktm sx 250 is simply awesome, but these guys are right, get the house and heal up.

I saw your bike on Facebook feed just recently. I would buy it in a heart beat. I like you have a wife and finacial obligations so I have to sell my current bike first and save by taking on call at the hospital I work for. By the looks of it you enjoy making a clean race bike. Take a different look at it. Its almost the off season (racing anyways). Find a project bike and make it look as nice as that KTM. Then you'll have that extra cash for a home and a project for the winter.

Hey jeffro, you should come work up here in Alberta for a while ! people here are booking 2 years in advance to get a house built here . its almost impossible to get any work done unless your willing to pay ridiculous prices to push to the front of the line !

Don't sweat it man - bikes come and go. IMO, you need to be putting as much money down as you can on that mortgage anyways to try and reduce your points. You'll save the money in the long run.

Just look at it this way, you'll get to get a new (different) bike after you get settled into the house!

BIkes come and go, gotta do what you gotta do. The only one that still hurts almost 10 years later was selling a minty TL1000S in order to buy a wedding ring. Damn I loved that bike.
