Seely-broken brake lever...

Edited Date/Time 1/27/2012 12:18pm
DNF because of it? I understand how HARD it is to ride without brakes, but you have 2 brakes and engine braking. Why not salvage some points and race? Championships are won on bad days....

I'm not hating at all honestly, but it seriously seems like when these guys are making money, getting rides and all this and that they act all pre-madonna (sp?)... I just think some riders don't appreciate it as much as they claim and should...

Thought's?

70% of braking is with the front brake. I think it would be tough to triple into some of those corners and live to tell about it. Should he just ride round out there as a lapper?

You always finish the race if you can. Every point counts.

Mmm Normally I'd agree.
Actually I still do agree he should of rode around and finished.
But we all know under great amount of stress and crap like that we make decisions with out truly thinking them through.

I think Cole saw the break lever gone, said to himself " I can't ride at my top speed, do half these jumps in the mud without it cause my front end will be straight up and down, What the point?" I dont think he saw just riding around in the way a option. At the time.

And called it over. I am sure once he hit the semi or shortly after the interview he realized his mistake. You guys gotta remember most these guys are kids. Kids make irrational decisions.

No I don't hate the guy and in times of high stress even grown men make mistakes. I just feel no matter what he try and finish. 4 points could determine a championship and it would suck to see him say if only I'd had...

I really never use my back brake unless i get into an OH SHIT situation. Unless his brake was somehow broke in the locked up position.

This sport is a huge mental game. Going from a win, to (hopefully mid pack) can make a young man make the wrong decision. Give the kid a break and let's all see what happens next week.

maybe a stupid decision on his part, but look at the conditions that started to play in to the race via the weather, riding that without a back break could of ended his season

You guys obviously don't understand how important the rear brake is in SX.

he lost the back brake which would make it awful hard to ride a SX track and hit all the jumps. There is a lot of rear brake tapping in the air.

I thought it was the rear brake too - it's very dangrous to ride SX without a rear brake, and if it's raining, you can't use the front that hard anyway. I guess he could have ridden around and tried to get a few points, but if he'd crashed and hurt himself everyone would have been saying, "What was he thinking, riding SX without a rear brake?"

I also thought it was rear, I just wanted to see what capt thought since he brought up the front brake

If he just had no rear brake at all he could of still ridden just not as aggressively.

That team is having some bad luck this year besides the one win.
