Rider signup per event?
Mechanic sign up per event?
Parking for the rig per event?
Any other charges charged to the riders and team by Feld?

Subtract all the fees charged to the riders and teams from what Feld Pays back to them. And you will kinda get why Wentland is venting.

I'm not sure how it works now but back when I was racing SX the AMA collected and kept the entry fees and mechanic fees. The promoter put up the purse money and the AMA distributed it to the racers.

I’m not a believer that a rider “deserves” anything. If Mookie can’t get a ride, Wentland doesn’t have a chance in ever getting a ride.

The stuff Wentland posted is his frustration with not being able to make it. Lots of lawn guys don’t make it, lots of restaurants don’t make it!

You may be correct! I couldn’t remember all that stuff.

$249 license
$50 ama card
$200 entry fee
$50 mechanic pass
$45 guest pass (no track walk)

no parking fees or anything like that.

Last year making the night show in 250 was $565 I think and 450 was $965.

So about $330 to enter a sx. Shoot a 30th place rider is clearing about $250, how much do they want? (sarcasm)

Not to mention any of the other cost for the weekend. I thought that the money for entry fees and licenses didn't actually go to feld and that it went to the AMA and the money was used to get those people to the races each weekend. Don't quote me on that but when you pay those fees it's through the ama website not a feld site.

all these numbers are hilariously cheap. Any aspiring youth should run some races even if they place last so they have it on resume.

I wonder how much the guy driving the dozer makes a week. I'd imagine it's a good bit more than the last place guy in the main. It won't change unless the people gettin' screwed stop liking it. jmo

but what about the cost of motors that last no more than 10 hours? Race bike and practice bike? How many sets of tires? How many sets of graphics? Gear? Fuel? Oils? Filters? Wheels? Suspension?

You start adding all that on and one race weekend gets really expensive!

On the subject of cost and payout , I was thinking about this weeks triple crown race. They only had 22 riders in the night show-main per class. A normal week has 40 riders in each class and pays all 80 riders that make the night show a little money . Did feld only pay the top 22 in each class this week ? Anyone know if they paid the top 40 qualifying times even though they didn't make the main ? It just got me thinking about how the purse money was distributed and did they pay the normal full amount ?

i don't have stance on this myself really, but I'll use your example to make a point.

from the outside, you are comparing a guy who runs a tractor for 80 hours a week and goes home to his boring ass family, has no social media presence, and no adoring fans to cheer him on in as he slaves away in his tractor, to a guy who rides his dirtbike for 20-30 hours a week and bangs moto hoes on the weekend. My point is, for the 17-18 year old up and comers who havn't even had to think about supporting themselves yet, which job do you think looks more appealing? there is literally nothing in it for the tractor guy except for money.

I took a paycut once so I could so I could have Saturdays off. Still worked the same amount of hours doing the same job, but because I got a perk, i got less money. There are a ton of perks for being a professional motocross rider, even one on the outer fringes of success. These count too.

Supercross is an FIM World Championship. Who pays the FIM?
