Not anything I've tried works, not even brake cleaner, to get these suckers back to being white. What do you guys use?

$500 on a new pair. BAM!!!! White again!!!!

ok, smart ass jokes aside I use "grafitti remover" that I get from a cleaning store. It is NASTY smelling stuff and will get you high as a kite so be careful but it works pretty good on the plastic parts of the boots. White shoe polish sold by A-stars works decent on the leather to make it white again.

Hope that helps ya a bit.

Try Wesleys bleach white? It's for white wall tires but may work.

Off topic but that shit ruined my black rims, Permanent streaks/stains. It does clean good. Biodegradable my ass that stuff peeled the powder coating off my cheap Harbor Freight wash station and would burn the chit out of any cuts on the ol mits lol.

UV light makes them turn yellow. Once they turn yellow, they are yellow forever.

Really, I had no problems with it on my black excels. It does burn cuts, but other than that I love the shit. I don't even have to scrub. Just spray and wash. You can also do like a 50/50 with water if you want it a little less "super"! haha

Actually, this is the same thing that happens to car headlights. The best way to return them to white is using a quality headlight restoration kit that requires some sanding and polishing. This will remove a very small amount of the top layer of the plastic and expose the white underneath. Macguires and 3M both make really good kits. FYI, this also works on white gas tanks that have yellowed over time.

That's funny.

I regret cleaning them to begin with. But they seemed to be becoming a health hazard, looked awful with the new bike and new gear, and were actually scratching everything (read the new bike) they came into contact with.

New boots it is! Black ones this time for sure. Unfortunately, these boots are still good.

Somebody should start an old boot rescue. I'd have four pairs to get out of my garage for the cause.

Be cautious with the Super Clean. I wouldn't use it full strength on any part of my bike. Or gear.

I run the same boots. I find that if I spray em with whatever bike cleaner you and a good power wash after every ride day, that keeps em nice and fresh. But after a few weekends you start getting black marks and some "yellowish coloring". Use brilo pad to rub the area that need attention. works wonders and doesnt leave any major scrathed after finished. i do not rub the black plastic areas as they would prob dull from scratching. hope this helps you out.

Correct Answer! Also use this on the white plastic on cable holders, radiator plastic fins, and whatever else is plastic and yellowed.

I have the black DNA's with anodized hubs. I made the mistake of putting it on in the hot Arizona sun. Less than 30sec and it dulled the piss out of them.

EXACT same thing happened to my SG 10's, they were always kept in the garage when I'm not riding, always cleaned and dried after every ride, and the plastic looks like shit.

I tried everything to get the white color back , but the plastic is yellow all the way through.

They are less than a year old, and they fit just perfectly, I may try some white spray paint and clear coat?

Back to Black for me next pair.

The white on Gaerne boots does seem prone to yellowing. It is probably their only flaw, though (great boots!). I have SG12's and have had the same trouble. I find the stuff pictured below works pretty well on white boots usually, but it won't undo the yellowing:
