This is just my humble 2 cents so take it with a grain of salt, but to me a guy like Ryno is never really happy. Always searching for something that he may never find. Probably why he went through so much change within himself. 5 years from now he may be someone completely different again. But that’s what makes Ryno, Ryno and what has made all his success (and also failures) possible.
These guys are alpha males. I hate to use that term. He's still lost, though. His life is still empty. Hedonism is not fullfilling. And I think that he knows this at some level. Without family and kinfolk, you're just an atomized indivudual. It's nihilism.
