See on IG he compound fractured his femur, been doing video on his helicopter ride and at the hospital. Dude is doing it with no pain pills he says, I don’t know I would be as calm as him if that happened.

I saw him a few weeks ago at pala and it was his first time riding in 3 months. I hope he did not get back to back injuries.

Yeah I've seen a few videos of him where I've thought he's hardly taking it easy. Can't imagine a femur is much fun!

Yeah he posted a video of him eating it on a huge stepup a month or so ago that he walked away from. I was thinking to myself "is that worth it anymore?" haha. He's still got it though. Placed 3rd at a 125 All Star after Durham got DQd.

What is the purpose of refusing painkillers? To show what a tough guy you are?
Others may/will have different answers, but for me it would be to stay away from a possible pain pill addiction.... you can't get addicted if you never start....

There are a lot of people who take opioid-based painkillers and end up becoming addicted to them. I'm not sure how good the options are for non-opioid painkillers.

He still rides and can haul the mail. Hopped on several strangers bikes and put down some of the fastest laps at a local track during a training day.

Very cool guy. Hope he heals fast.

Opiods don't kill the pain... they make you not care about the pain. Want a true pain killer... 600mg Ibuprofen with 500mg extra strength Tylenol. I have done right scaphoid and my wisdom teeth with this and it managed the pain effectively!

Because fuck that garbage. Plus they make you not poop and I'd rather be in pain than constipated

That may not be an option if he's bleeding a lot. After the wound is closed I agree though. I was in the hospital for a good amount of time when I was younger and had Dilaudid withdrawals after only a week and a half on the drug. My father made them only give me ibuprofen and tylonel after that. Could have saved my life.

Most likely they(EMT staff) wouldn't give him anything because of the obvious impending surgery when he gets to the hospital. EMT and ER staff wouldn't give me anything when I shattered my heels until the surgeon reviewed X-rays and decided the course of action.

I had my compound tub/fib fracture surgery at Inland Valley, Ryan will need pain meds to deal with the nursing staffSick

Does anyone know why he doest want pain medication? I don't understand the rationale.

Ha! Is this a serious comment?
While I agree they can be dangerous, everyone's different. I was on most of the heavy pain management stuff when I shattered my femur before the opioid crisis was really talked about and while I personally thought they were a blast to be on at the time, I never once was tempted to throw it all away to get more later on. I tapered off during physical therapy before my prescription ran out and never took them again.
