Hi everyone I have a Ryan Dungey drawing for sale , I normally only work from commission s. And I was commissioned this last year . But the guy never showed up . And after a year of false promises I have gave up and I going to sell it now instead. I want 200$ plus p&p for it. I would also consider swoping for Yamaha 450 parts (14 -17 ) or if anyone has a shop and would like it ,I'd do a deal on some gear or googles etc. You can pm on vital or my e mail is brianandersonart@gmail.com, or my fb page is Brian Anderson art . Please don't take this post as spam. I only do motocross drawing and painting s out of the love of the sport . And it rare I get to do them as they take so long , anyway hope you guys like the drawing its 14 x 18 in
Ps. This is my a great photo of it , the drawing look s better in real life Smile

Just a suggestion but you might want to add the dimensions of the drawing.

I don't see a drawing or a painting be done based off a photograph as copying at all, but maybe that is just my inartistic viewpoint.

Doesn't look any different than what I saw on TV.

What if He were to draw the Grand Canyon and I had taken a photo of the area He drew ?

I was thinking the exact thing. But I also don't take photos for a living, so I truly don't know protocol.

edit: and it probably changes things once selling that photo/drawing becomes involved

This guy spent hours copying your photo for a commission, he's looking to make money for his own effort and talent, how does that discredit you in any way?

All I can say is , I am making very very little money from any motocross drawing s or painting I do . It take s me wayyyyyyyy to much time to do them . I am a portait artist for my day job . I only ever do motocross ones when I am commission on the very rare occasion. This is because I love motocross and I enjoy doing the drawing of something I love . Sometimes I only barely break even on them . No drawing will be the exact same as the photo . I 'll always use artistic licence ,mostly in the back ground. This drawing was was no different .the background is a good bit different from original photo. I ment no disrespect to cuby , I love his work . But if I had to be the one who took the photo for every bike drawing I barely get to do any ever. Ie , I have never got to a supercross to take pictures . I get to the mxon ever few years and a go ever other year or so. I 've used photo s before and met the photographer s of them and none of them ever had any problems with it . Nor did the rider s I did the drawing of.

If you have a problem with the drawing . Cuby . I'll delete the thread and I 'll bin the drawing

It doesn’t matter whoms photo it is. He simply used the same persective as your photo and/or tv camera shots from the broadcast. its not like he photocopied it, he hand painted it using the photo as reference. I dont see how that is an issue at all. No offense, but it takes more talent to draw a picture then it does to use a camera to take a picture (yes I know its more involved then just point and shoot, and Im not claiming to be able to do it as well as a professional like yourself. Simply stating theres a big difference and I believe drawing/painting takes way more skill and talent). He is trying to sell his talents, not your picture.

Very respectful. Though I dont believe you should have to give up your right to sell your work and think it would be extremly lame of Cudby to try to make you do that, its your work, your choice and its really cool that you would do that just to avoid any issues. Keep up the great work!

I see both sides . maybe they will be worth more if they were sold as a drawing from cudby or whoever? if my shop was done I would buy that. one of my favorite racing moments.

...and...you can take a break from posting. Have a smidge of respect.

Anonymity makes for "brave" posters.

I'm actually not sure that the Dungey photo's not mine, but I understand Simon's frustration with people poaching copyrighted materials for whatever purpose, especially without asking.

As an example, there's a company that sells t-shirts, that has a network of Instagram accounts that poach photos of mine all the time. If I ask them to remove them, it's nothing but crickets.
