I am going to take a wild guess and say more people watch SX
I could be wrong!
But I am confident in my wild assumption
Pit Row
But as for this question, Paul Malin is commentating on a broadcast that is subscription only, he would rightly assume that the people watching are interested and know about mx because they've sought out and bought a subscription..
Supercross is trying to get new viewers interested and by just going on his Facebook page that tough guy Brett posted I see he's got three shows on Netflix and is appealing to a large number of people.. So if it works great
I'll be honest I never really minded him just seems like a harmless goofball that's happy to be there.. But knowing that he makes some of you so dramatically upset makes me like him even more haha
On the surface, it's just a literal race. Simple as that. Dig a little deeper though, and it's actually the sum interaction of 20+ different guys. The addition, or subtraction, of a single rider, might change the entire result. Barcia is a great example: if he were out for the rest of the season, would Tomac be a championship contender? Then, there are the "rules," which can be so fuzzy, even the AMA can't figure them out.
The comment that the RIDERS, not the commentators, is what grows the sport, is dead on. Highlighting individual riders: their strengths, weaknesses, quirks, motivations, etc. is far more interesting and enlightening than a dumb cheesy segment on flagging or pit boards. Understanding how riders act and react to different situations is the real key to understanding the sport. Fighting Webb is different than fighting Musquin is different than fighting Bam Bam and so on.
