Emil Sayfutdinov and Artem Laguta (2021 World Champion) have been excluded from Speedway GP, and the Polish leagues.

F1 did NOT ban Mazepin from racing. They said he can race under a neutral flag and not under a Russian flag. Hass Terminated both Mazepin and their sponsor "Uralkali" which is Mazepins Dads company

Political. Vital doesn't do politics in moto-related.

It’s absolute bullshit that riders, or any athletes for that matter, are not allowed to compete and earn a living based off where they were were born. It’s no more Brylyakov or Bobryshev’s fault than it is any of us. They could’ve easily taken the same stance as the FIA.

|

3/7/2022 11:30 AM

I'd say it's more important to put pressure on a tyrannical goverment that's committing war crimes as we speak, than to see your 4th favorite rider line up for a race. But yeah whatever.

I guess we could be doing what Russia is, locking up athletes and threatening 10 years in the gulag for CBD oil.

It would not be political to get the facts that affect mx'ers.
Maybe it's a pre-emptive move to non-moto since an opinion will almost certainly be posted about the situation.

|

We had a note from the ACU today saying that the sanctions affect racing on the local level as well.

|

3/7/2022 2:02 PM

As I said in non-moto, it's not a personal thing...it's not the rider, it's their license.

RU licenses in almost every sport (or anything really) is now invalid outside Russia, plain and simple.

If you are American and race overseas, you need a valid AMA license and a permission release. The AMA (or your home country) must grant permission to race under the other sanction.

RU licenses are now invalid.

If they can obtain licensure from another country (unlikely, all things considered) they can race, but that is complicated I am sure.

I doubt they can even get a Swiss license.

If these athletes have a home country and pay taxes to that home country it is looked at contributing money to support the Russian war.
If they want to denounce their citizenship then maybe but I don't know International Law. Its not being done to hurt any one person but for the FIM, F1 and all the others to stand United. That's a pretty surprising move by them on that merit.

Its bs. Didn't USA just go to China to 'play games'. I'm sure their gov is all 'pee chee keen' huh? These dudes were born 20 yrs ago. Putin\biden couldnt care less about it. Now, if some idiot uses 'sport' for politics, ban them!

So by using your logic every U.S. taxpayer is guilty of supporting drone striking kids in the middle east? I get banning them if they openly come out in support of what’s going on but to punish people who have no political pull whatsoever and are not involved at all is doing nothing but ruining an innocent persons career and livelihood

|

3/7/2022 8:23 PM

Never said it was right. But the people of Ukraine do not deserve to die because they want their freedom. The riders and drivers and other athletes can come back but the dead Ukraine people can’t.

If the guy working in Starbucks or Pizza Hut in Moscow is out of a job now, so are race drivers.

They are not special.

It is all to pressure the Russians and the Russian economy to either GTFO of Ukraine or kill or exile Putin somewhere to sit on his billions of ill-gotten gains.

Huh? Logical and Apolitical…? Not to mention based in actual fact…?
Hi, I’m Manny; and, it’s not too often that you see me and Dave in full agreement! grin

This is the “Rest of the World” telling one of The Global Powers that INVADING A SOVEREIGN NATION simply because…for your entire political career you’ve said,”I want The Soviet Union BACK!”…or due to your egotistical needs…well, there is a solution to that: the rest of the world applies pressure to the people that can actually do something about the “cause” of problem. Period.

Does it suck? Absolutely.

War sucks.
This IS RUSSIA’s war.

Nobody ever told me, I found out for myself. You've got to believe in foolish miracles. It's not how you play the game, it's if you win or lose. You can choose. Don't confuse. Win or lose. It's up to you!

I believe Bobryshev is currently in the US and planning on racing some of, if not all of the Nationals. I'll be cheering for him, not as a Russian but as a great rider.

No, Bobryshev is back in Netherlands. Him and the team plan to race as many as they can, but not sure how this will affect him racing here yet.
