Michigans version of southwick is Bulldogs near flint,michigan....................It is the roughest up and down hill sand track that I have ever rode or seen...........makes redbud look like a freeway.....
Cocoa Beach Florida was the roughest track I have ever seen.
yep,
That place was just unbelievably brutal. I remember watching the pro class at a winter AM race and just being awestruck that those guys were jumping a huge double that had a takeoff that would have qualified as a whoop section.
When the water table was up (high tide) water would seep up into the bottom of the whoops and holes that developed, making them deeper.
That black sand was some naasty stuff when it rained too.
Of course all that paled in comparison to the misquitos. Those things were rumored to have carried off unattended pets and even small children.
Yep.. Place is a beat down. Can't imagine the fitness needed to go 40 min wide open there. There is no resting spots either. It seems like they do no track work ever at that place. I remember when they used to let southwick get close to that but those days are gone.

yea i agree with that gsxrcr28, Orlando and St Pete got pretty rough also, but i remember reading one time that Roger D said that Cocoa Beach track(diamond back) was the roughest track he ever raced on.

Lierop hands down. I love Southwick(the old direction) but Lierop gets wonderfully brutal. Looks like a bitch to ride but excellent to watch the GP guys wide open on it!
Cocoa was the roughest I ever raced,But Southwick was a close 2nd in the 70's and 80's,Here is a shot I took at the Lommel GP a few weeks ago,That place was pretty rough too. Here is Max Nagl holding off Tony Cairoli for a little while.

Lommel makes Baghdad look like Chuck E Cheese on a Tuesday afternoon
during the blessing- of- the- mouse- panties.
Ruts so deep they have ladders out of 'em.
Whoops so rough they issue sea-sick pills.
Beer-tents so rowdy that kegs are tossed like potato-chips (with mayo).
Is that the track where Everts won both motos in 1998 by about 40 sec over tortelli? He was just unreal that day. Amazing to watch in the sand.
Here is a photo of the only flat spot on the track.

I can still remember Howerton literally jumping every 2 whoops on his Husky.
And those whoops were like 2-21/2 ft deep and about 15 ft apart.
