Rotator cuff's take a few days to used to. Make sure it is stable and you don't move your shoulder around. When I had mine done, it took me about a week for me to get comfortable with the sling and all. Hope you make a quick recovery man.

Did someone say Dilaudid? Cheerful

Seriously though...it's gonna hurt quite a bit here while it's in "protection" mode. Over the next few days/weeks as the resting pain diminishes, take extra precaution when doing simple things like getting up from the couch, going up and down stairs, etc. ...especially when your balance may be affected by the meds. Little lapses of concentration/mistakes resulting in quick reactionary movements from your injured arm can feel like someone stabbed you in the shoulder from the inside out. It's not fun.

And, as I'm sure you've heard from all of us, once your Doctor/PT gives you the go ahead to start making small circles/doing stretches with it...DO IT!

I m goin on a little over a year post op, make sure you do the therapy, it sucks , but worth it, do not get the shoulder freeze or you will start from square on!, still hard to sleep, I m glad i had insurance , still cost $3 g s in co payments, therapys and check ups. I guess its better than the oringinal $25,000 bill LOL! Good luck bro, it will get better, be patient.

My surgery was on March 31st. 3 1/2 hrs. of reconstruction. Pain has not been as bad as I had been told, but lack of sleep has been a major issue. Turns one's brain to mush!

Had minor rotator cuff, torn labrurm and (?) end of collarbone trimmed to eliminate shoulder impingement in december 2009. In a sling for 4 weeks, then about 6 weeks of PT 2x per week. Never needed anything more than Tylenol or Aleve, then again I never needed prescription drugs after two ACL reconstructions, either.

Really have not ridden since then but I still have some limited range of motion and minor weakness, notice it while trying to throw a baseball with some authority. Try not to skimp on the post-op PT(stretching and strengthening).

Good luck with it!!
