all this talk about ET's head, Roczens arms, and a guy getting squirrely and still making the pass.

What about another KTM Sweep!

So suzuki can't give a proven Champion who had them on top, a decent contract.

how many suzuki championships since?

both suzuki factory riders were lapped last night, buy three KTM's.

------------------------------------
In 2010 the Man joined a team without ANY 450 success in America.

Now, sweeping the podium isn't even news.

What an amazing feat....

anyone disagree?

How could you disagree? What KTM has been able to accomplish across the globe in the past ten years or so is nothing short of amazing. DeCoster gets a lot of praise (as he should) but clearly there is a lot of knowledgeable people all throughout that company.

On Rogers wallet it says “Bad Mutherfucker”

yes, Decoster benefited by that driven to win, ready to race mentality. no doubt.

Everything Decoster touches turns to Gold. There's no other way to put it.

I don't know, does every one think that without Decoster none of the guys that won championships with him would have not won any with out him?

|

3/17/2019 3:29 PM

It's the KTM brand as a whole. Whether you do or don't like the bikes or the orange color scheme or whatever, every moto person should love that company for their full commitment to all forms off road motorcycling in general. That organization is all in and it's no surprise they went after Roger D.

The Man has better than average results with his teams. Lots of reasons for KTMs success, but hiring Roger and meeting his demands for new bikes has to rank up there in success stories.

He has less to do with it than everyone thinks. Suzuki was horrible for 10 years under rog

Naw, just Matthes said it was ridiculous that people were giving Roger the credit for Webb’s recent success. I’m pretty sure Steve would agree that Roger has done a lot for KTM as a whole.

In that case I agree with Matthes.

are you saying to go out and BUY three KTMS (the 150SX, the 250SXF, and the 450SXF) ? Or are you saying that they were lapped BY three KTMs?

17 KTM 450 SXF - AMAZING!

How old is Roger now and how long do you think he will stay this involved?

five time world champion, built factory honda into "the legendary powerhouse", turned to Suzuki and did the same with a major influence on bike design and rider choices, left and took a brand that couldn't win a magazine shootout to the industry leader, that has now won multiple championships and swept the podium last night.

he's been the true backbone of the sport, and no one else compares to his total influence, from champion to industry leader. in other words, the greatest influence the sport has ever known.

how did he do it?

Not quite.....Roger came on in '95-'96 timeframe, started winning races in '97 and won the 250 outdoor title in 1999. Pretty quick turn around considering the state the Suzuki race team was in at the time. Won titles through the 2000's, then the Suzuki race team immediately went to shit when he left.

1: Honda has not had the same success since Decoster left (look at Hondas record while Roger was team manager).

2: Suzuki has not had the same success since Decoster left.

3: Ryan Dungey LEFT Suzuki because he knew Roger Decoster and Ian Harrison were going to build the KTM into a winning bike. Had he stayed at Suzuki (or gone to any other brand), he would not have 4 supercross championships.

4: Roger has had a quite a bit of influence in the development of the KTM, especially the weight advantage it has over the other bikes.

5: It is no accident that both Blake Baggett (Suzuki) and Cooper Webbs (Yamaha) success on a 450 had been much better on a KTM.

Not in love with the brand, just pointing out Roger Decoster is a big influence on bike development.

|

3/17/2019 5:10 PM

Roger is the man, but Ryan Dungey has a lot to do with their success in the U.S. as well. Roger has said as much. Dungey's input was instrumental in their development of the 450.

That said, he also had the faith in Roger to go to KTM.

No sir. No one, and I mean NO ONE, knows more about the sport than Roger. From the riders perspective, management, or corporate viewpoint. No matter the team he always provides the best possible machine to his riders. What they do with it is not his job. Yes, I am a lifelong uber fan of Roger.

My dream stable of KTM's would be a 125SX, a 250SX, and the one that they don't build yet, but should, the 450SX. And no, I don't mean 450SX-F.
