Looks like they both got docked points for jumping on Red Cross flag.

It's on the official results. And we knew they were reviewing it since the official results took so long.

It's a shame, but also fair. Rules are rules.

This is why we need rider comms.. no way they see that flag as they are committing to a triple that is sketchy coming out of the sand..

Even if comms is only from the race director himself like sprint car officials use.. purely for safety reasons. But mechanic to rider comms could be insane for line choice during the race,I think it would make great racing or followcross, but we won’t know till we try..

Seems consistent with the rules assuming neither of them gained a position: Page 28 (http://www.amasupercross.com/rules/pdf/2021/2021%20AMA%20Supercross%20R…)

e. White Flag with Red Cross or Red Flashing Light:
9. If Race Direction determines that there was a blatant
violation of this rule, the penalty for non-compliance will be:
c. During a Main Event race, if no positions were gained, the
penalty will be the points and purse equal to two positions
in the final results for that race plus two additional points.

d. During a Main Event race, if any positions are gained, the
loss of number of positions gained plus the points and
purse equal to two additional positions in the final results
for that race, plus two additional points.

TLDR: no position gained means docked points only not position (so others don't move up the ladder).

This morning I go to look at points standings on amasupercross.com and it shows Barcia in the lead and I am confused so I go to Racer X. Same thing. Still confused. No headline or anything on Racer X about guys getting docked points which I think is fairly big news. Had to come here to figure out what the hell was going on.

So Friese and Davalos too then? I see those two have less points then they would have

The whole flagging situation was pathetic last night.

Not to argue or agree. Just reflecting on my thoughts as I watched the video...

The guys turnng that corner were NOT looking to the outside of the track (where the flag was waving). They were looking at the 1st jump or down the the jump section that Chase was lying in.

Doesn't matter. The Flag was out and waving and those are the rules.

I get it; but, it does seem that we might need to get back to those lighting systems that flash when a rider is down. They seem much better at alerting the riders.

It's a shitty feeling to find yourself in the air with a friend...a rider...on the ground right in front...or worse...right below you.

At Mammoth in 2019, I found myself in the air at the top of the start hill (jumping on to The Bus Stop) and a friend and really good competitor was on the ground right where I was headed to land...
I 'ejected' my bike mid-air and barely glanced him and he ended up being ok.
That moment, where I found myself in the perfect trajectory to land on Ed...it was the shittiest feeling.

Points getting taken...results being changed...it all sucks. But, those are the rules.
Chase NOT getting landed on? I'll take it.

Safe to say that a few riders are not too pleased with the sand section today.

I agree that the flagging was shitty, but if there is one rule to be super strict with, the Red Cross flag is it. Last chance move to save a rider from further major injury.

If you have the race recorded you can see it all at 15:35-15:28 left in the race. Roczen , Anderson, and davalos jump while Everyone else slowed / rolled. It looks like Eli jumped as well, but he was behind chase, I’m guessing the flag wasn’t out at that point.

Edit... or you can see it in an Instagram video on page 15 of the night show thread...

Maybe they need to protest it because with so many riders having this problem it's clear that they're not intentionally jumping they just can't see the flag and also be focused on their track. The AMA is at fault for putting a down rider at risk and it's clear that the flag is not formidable in alerting the riders.

How many guys got it right though?

surley common sense would have said to position the flagger on the entrance to the turn not on the exit. At least give riders half a chance to see it 🤦🏼‍♂️

They just had to hit the most complicated rythm section of the track, inmediately after a stupid sand turn, with a rider just in front. Couldn't they just spare some focus for a dude with a flag, that hardly waved it, in the far outside of the turn? Come on that's childs play!

Yeah I agree 100% , the situation sucks but rules are rules. I do like the idea of flashing lights as well.

Maybe not total communication but an audio alter inside the helmet when there's a red cross could work.

I was sitting right where Sexton crashed. From there it looked like the only one really blatantly ignoring the flag was Davalos. He even tripled out of the sand section the following lap when Sexton was still being attended.
Not sure about Friese but JA and KR basically had no chance to see the flag
