What the hell is this thing? Saw it in a park lot at lunch. Managed to get a quick pic before the guys took off.

Judging by the shape of the frame and the size of the brakes it looks like a modified trials bike. It had a lengthened swingarm, a crappy little sheet metal air box, a trials style pipe that looked homemade and holes drilled everywhere.

All the guys in the truck had gray hair so I’m ruling out freestylers. Laughing

hill climber is my guess. especially considering none of the hill-climbing bikes i've ridden had rear brakes.

but holy shit, calling it a roach would be a compliment

It also looks like it would be pretty tuff to kick with the starter in that position!

Yep, I think you nailed it. Probably a lot more fun to ride when it was still a trials bike.

looks like KX85 shrouds, side panels, front fender, maybe seat, maybe KX85 desert tank.

Pretty easy since I have one. I recognized the trans oil window. And yes, a lot of fun to ride, although if you try hard enough you can get them stuck.
