Rmz 250 rebuild??

Hello so I have a 2016 rmz250 with 94 hours on it we'll maintained. I did the top end at 70 hours. I can't find anything but oem bottom ends for that year bike. Do you think the bottom end would hold up 1 more season?

You only want to use OEM bottom ends anyways. The rest are nowhere near the quality of OEM.

As far as another season, it may or may not last. Think of the consequences of trying to push it another season and having a catastrophic failure taking out the cases and head. I say it’s worth the peace of mind just doing it all right now.

This goes for any bike not just RMZ 250s. Aftermarket cranks are notorious for failing unexpectedly with a short service life. Most people who install them do so on bikes they flip, because the price is cheaper than OEM.

The service manual calls out the big end side clearance and small end ID clearance service limits . If those measure within spec and there isn’t any up/down play I’d run it . If you were a fast A rider banging off the limiter I would replace it . If you don’t have the manual I highly recommend getting one .

i think you'll be okay for another season

if you were a fast A/B rider id say yeah, do it but if you're a vet novice i cant imagine you bounce off the rev limiter 24/7 doing scrubs off everything

Could always have the crank rebuilt, cheaper than replacing. Check out Ken OConnor racing for a crank rebuild

Scrubs!? What's a scrub lol. Jkjk. Yeah I try and stay in 3rd most of the time, keeping the motor mid range. Never hit the rev limiter

These days, by the time you get done buying a quality rod kit, and paying the labor to get it rebuilt, you might as well just buy a OEM crank assembly

Ken just rebuilt an OEM crank for me, quick turnaround and quality work.

I know it's hit or miss, just for kicks I priced it out at RM

OEM crank is $370

A ProX rod is $106 and KOR is $95 in labor

Bearings are another $70 each, (OEM crank doesn't come with them) could probably get them cheaper from a bearing supply house.
