Rm250 discontinued next year?

Edited Date/Time 1/26/2012 11:32pm
Anybody else hear rumors that the RM250 will not be manufactured next year?
A friend of mine heard it from a dealer.

That would leave just the YZ250. What a huge bummer and a huge mistake for this industry.

You're forgetting the KTM 250SX. As far as I know they don't plan on cutting it off any time soon.

ahh...right. Maybe I will go orange next year!

This is depressing. I never would have imagined growing up that I would see the death of the RM, CR, and KX 250s.
I see a whole new industry of two stroke rebuilders in the future. You can't beat the two stroke for a cheap and fun ride.

Does anyone know if they sold all the 08's? What a bummer if they stopped them.

I had a feeling that was going to happen, that's why I bought a new 2005 YZ125 in 06, New 2006 YZ250 in 07 got great deals cuz of rebate's. Finally just picked a 2008 KTM144 to go along with my 2002 CR250 FMX bike, so I am all set with 2-strokes!!

I can't afford new 4-stroke bikes anymore, $7000 and you can't get $3500 for it a year later.

Most people don't get new bikes every 10 months or so. Sheesh just all those sticker kits you maintain on your revolving door of m/c's must be expensive.

All I know is my $4800.00 CRF450 is the best moto bike I have owned to date. Flexbars and regular oil changes and I will be happy for many yrs.

My 03 I did one minor valve adjustment and put in a new piston & rings right before I sold it only because it came with the bike from Canada. Never had one problem with it after 4-5yrs of abuse. Can't complain about that....

Ain't that the truth but value drops on the 2 smokers as well. So wait a year and pick up an almost new 450 for $3500 and you got a steal.

Buying a used four stroke is only a steal for the seller.

If the bike manufacturers kept making 250 2 strokes and the AMA amateur rules stay the same, about the only place you'd see a 250F is at a Pro race. Not good for their 4 stroke investment.

Eh, i'm venting and I hate her to so I like to blame her. She was in bed with the EPA at one point of her political career. Im sure I could find a tie to her from that. She's a buzz killer.

Ultra clean two stroke is realistic. I would like to see it happen. I would also like to see two stroke twins used in MX and Off Road.

Can you imagine how many more 2 strokes KTM is going to sell if they are the only manufacturer making them?

In 1998 Honda had a clean burning 2 stroke that was cleaner than any four stroke of the day, and probably today as well. It won the Baja 500 with Bruce Ogilvie at the controls.

Do a google search for "Honda EXP2"

This article get into all the basic workings of the engine.

Are those chassis any better than the originals? I can't see one problem with my RM chassis that would make me want to put my engine in an RMZ chassis other than the bling factor.
