Belgian GP star Dirk Geukens passed away on 22. july after hear tfailure.
Condoleances to his friends and family.

He was a great rider, in an era when there were so many great riders.. never made it to full factory machinery, but he was always up there at the sharp end, at a time when Belgium had Malherbe, then Gebeors and Jobe . Like Smets, he didnt come up through the smaller classes , but appeared in the 500 class, and was a solid performer .

He finished 3th in the 500cc class in '90 and '91 and won 2 GP's (Valkenswaard and Hawkstone Park).

Dirk did do a few years in the 250 GPS, but, really came into his own on the 500s.

A seriously fast rider, as evidenced by his two 3rds in the 500 GP World Championships, that Rudicross mentioned. He did so whilst being up against some Lions of our sport, and that is something very, very special. He could really make use of a 500.

RIP. From what i saw on social media the past years he was working with Jago Geerts allot as his trainer etc!
