May sound like a strange thesis, but it actually does help improve your vision. I could not quite get it until I tried but now I see why the top pros do it.

I’ve always worn earplug when riding. Although I got a set of custom plugs through work that I use, super comfy.

Lifetime ear plug use here. After you wear them it’s chaos to ride without. Add in the potential hearing damage & it is a surprise that more riders don’t use them.

Been wearing ear plugs for years now, couldn't ride without them now. At first you notice everything is quieter but after a while it sounds normal.

I tried it once and couldn't do it. Maybe I'll try again.

They've made me a better rider ever since I started wearing them. I used to shift my focus to something else the moment I would hear another bike somewhere around me. Now I'm able to ignore all the distracting noises around me. Oh, and I guess it's better for my hearing.

I've noticed they block out all of the extra noise that subconsciously distracts you, and allow you to more quickly and accurately react to what your eyes are seeing.

Anyone using a communication system and still able to use ear plugs? Just got a road bike and plan on using a Sena comm system.

Always use them here. Terrible headache and ringing ears without.

What he said...wished I had been smarter about this when I was in my younger years. I'm paying for it now..hearing loss is no joke! Bikes, concerts, guns..etc...you will pay for it eventually if you don't pay attention.

I used to get bad starts before I wore ear plugs so it makes no difference to me ha ha. To me my bike sounds exactly that same as before as my brain has adjusted, the only time I do have a problem is when I'm talking to someone when I've got my helmet on lining up before the start. That's the only time I notice I have ear plugs in.

I’ve used them with an intercom and it was fine. Just cuts out the wind noise.

Like many, I can’t ride without them. When I roadraced if I ever forgot them I’d get on the first big straight and wonder why it sounds like my bike is about to explode haha! It’s crazy how much better you can focus and how much the loud noise can fatigue you. I mostly race off road now and for a 2 hour race it makes a huge difference in your concentration and mental fatigue.
