She was just air lifted to New Jersey. Insurance will not pay for the flight but doctors insist it's her only option. Poor girl just graduated college in May.

if this happened zip-lining, wouldn't the zipline people be responsible, have insurance also to help with this situation?

Probably have insurance but that is going to be a battle to get them to give up anything.
The giant waiver you sign before going puts the onus on the individual unless you can prove the equipment is faulty.
Plus that would be a long protracted legal deal, this girl sounds like she needs attention asap.

Just an awful thing to hear.

Thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.

I dont know what kind of treatment they are talking about getting? There isn't anything available yet. But the bad part is if the insurance wouldn't cover the helicopter flight, wonder how hard its going to be to get them to pay for any kind of physical therapy? I know what mine paid for was very limited. So they will still need anything anyone is willing/able to contribute. Best of luck to her and the family.

she came off the equipment zip-lining, someones at fault, 100's if not 1000's of people zipline a day and you don't, or I haven't heard of people falling off, someone screwed up, it's negligence I don't care how many waivers you sign. it's no different than being on a mx track and the tractor comes out and you hit it, negligence, you signed waivers there. she better hire an attorney this could be medical bills for life.

I totally agree with you but was just saying that a process like that will probably take years to resolve and may hinge on some strange point with regards to responsibility.
The example you give with the tractor is kind of cut and dried this might come down to "oh she rotated the buckle incorrectly so we aren't liable".

No insurance company is going to step up and pay out without being forced to which really sucks.

I hope everything works out for her and that she can regain movement.

you'd be surprised i have seen insurance companies settle to not go to court. it's not as cut and dry as you think.

I hope that happens in this case because it sure sounds like she is in for a long road.

That's what you get when you cross hypocritical asshole politicians with ignorant citizens. But we're the greatest country in the free world...right?!Dry
I'm just glad this wasn't caused by a motorcycle accident!

Still can't get it in my head you have to pay so much of your hard earned $ to the government so they'll take care of you.
At the end of the day you're paying more for it than I am. You just don't have to write the check.
Our way isn't perfect, but I wouldn't trade it for socialism. I get to keep a large percentage of what I earn.

That said, my prayers go out this girl. Hope she recovers!!!

Like someone here said somebody fucked up.
My wife and I went zip lining last Friday and I never felt unsafe. Lots of good safety equip.
