Basically a pointless thread wasting space in the off-season..
Anyways, it seems to me that most of the top riders today just squiggle their initials and number. Has this always been common? I know they sign a lot of stuff on race day, but as someone who likes collecting, having some of these autographs isn’t as appealing as I’d hope
Who’s got good/bad/ugly ones?

On the off chance someone requests my signature I want it to be written in classical calligraphy with indelible ink and notarized. This way they will not be offended I took the time out of my day to do something special for them.
The Shop
Tomac signed a bunch of stuff for me to bring back as gifts to South Africa. I speak English....my African accent did not help....I thought he couldn't spell at one point. We got through it but I left thinking with the way he writes he would make a fine damn Doctor.
Now on race day, these guys have to focus on the job of two gruelling motos, things may not be 100% with the bike or body. Then the clock strikes 11h00 and they are obliged to sit at a table and sign autographs. Most fans would like something personified signed....these Athletes go through the steps at banging messages and signatures out as fast as they can.
I typically go through the back door when I need something signed, its not always easy but if you are prepared to wait then it's the best route.
You don't want to make that wait for the autograph any longer than it already is, do you?
Most top riders barely have enough time to look up, give a smile and a selfie for each fan, much less sign a nice clean autograph.
It's the same in present day stick and ball stuff too.
Bubbas "John Hankcock" is pretty nice looking.
