Big Maico (Howard Lobel of Houston) took a big digger yesterday at Rio Bravo.

He is currently in the Shock Trauma unit at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. He evidently whiskey throttled over a berm at Rio and body slammed a tree. He had surgery last night to remove his spleen. In addition, he suffered a broken femur, open break to the wrist, and a broken ankle. According to his wife, Donna, things were iffy last night as his blood pressure fell, he also developed compartment syndrome and didn't have blood flow to the hand or foot. That has been restored at this time and he is currently in surgery again to work on the wrist.

UPDATE (9 PM Sunday): I just got off the phone with Donna and Howard is doing much better this evening. He is awake and alert and his pain is being managed. He still needs additional surgeries to fix the femur and ankle so he will be in the hospital for some time to come.

Please say a prayer for my friend Howard.

Hope he gets through it ok. Don’t need the spleen. Ruptured my spleen in 1976 crashing my MR50. Will need pneumonia shot for certain strains. About five years ago a cat scan found some tiny spleen fragments that found a blood supply in my abdomen but no issues there
