And Ricky can speak fluent two-stroke, but not get crazy about it. Wink

GREAT now GuyB has joined the movement. There was certainly demand for this article he was worth an article since he got more hits than threads about the top riders. This is a big day for me, I can feel the winds of change!

So he was running a stock not even ported cylinder? If so, he should have gotten to "rock hard ride hard award" That's just taking a knife to a gun fight any way you look at it.

Here's a little addendum. The engine he showed up with? It had a little somethin'-somethin' extra. Rather than get fined or DQ'd, he opted for the stock one. It doesn't end there. While swapping out engines, they found a scoring problem in the cylinder in the original race engine that probably would have turned into a much bigger problem if he'd actually raced it.

During the LCQ, he had a nasty bog at one point, and he thought there was something wrong.

Cool to see that someone in the industry actually does some reporting. You better watch out or some of the two stroke Taliban are going to think you are one of them and start sending you their tin foil hats.

You don't have to "belong" to any particular group to try and tell a story. I occasionally tease the TST because they can't see past the edges of their reed valves.

When was the last time a 125 made the main (other than Renner)?
I'm not sure, but I'm going to guess Metcalf...

That's a really cool story. He should have run the 144 and fully leaded gas and let them DQ him afterward if they checkded it, otherwise just say, "No, man, it's a 125 with unleaded". Who cares? He'd have had a blast, and he might have made the main event.

Are you implying they never get to the bottom end of things?

Nice write-up by the way. Thanks.

Very good interview and questions. I have new respect for Renner's attitude through this whole thing. He has showed total respect for everyone involved, including the AMA. I wonder if the bike I got a picture of was his practice bike? I'll bet it was.

Anyway, thanks GuyB for posting that. Very good and uplifting article. Smile

No, I just think the idea of press is industry and vice-versa is silly.

I am a decent 2 stroke supporter guy. But damn. 2 races and 2 mechanical issues!! And from a reliable, seemingly bulletproof Yamaha at that. I am just confused what could be going on there. Us 2 stroke (i refuse to say 2T)guys love to point out that at least our bikes are reliable with the fewer moving parts and all that jazz! just plain confusing. I do appreciate the effort and could do no better myself; so I will just STFU for now.
