- 2019 yz450f
- 40+ A rider
- Motocross tracks 90% of the time
- the cost is a non-issue

I have never had one, so been riding 35 years with a conventional clutch. Any feedback from riders that added one after a long history of not having one?

If you have problems with stalling the bike than get one. If you never stall the bike than an auto clutch will do nothing for you with your type of riding.

I disagree slightly. You can change up your thought process a little when you learn to trust it and have it adjusted just right. You can really stab the back brake hard without having to coordinate pulling in the clutch and become a little more efficient at certain techniques imho. Its fun telling people you now have a "pw450" as well Wink I say if money is no object give it a try and work with it for a while, you can always sell it later if your not impressed by it.

Do you race? Or just ride?

If you race, and cost isn't an issue, then eliminating even the possibility of stalling during a moto would save you time and positions, so it would be worth it...

If you don't race...it probably doesn't matter.

I personally love them! There is honestly no difference in clutch feel or engagement between a rekluse and a regular clutch, eliminating the possibility of stalling...takes the pressure off of the technical sections off road (focus on line choice rather than working the clutch).

The beauty of the rekluse for myself personally was that I never had to touch the clutch cornering. I’m able to focus solely on throttle control without having to worry about clutch/throttle which of course becomes second nature after decades of riding. However it sure is nice to come into a corner and brake very hard, then roll on the throttle and exit the corner smoothly without having to touch the clutch the entire time.

If cost is not an issue, then hell yeah, get one.

I race sometimes... I mean, it's local, it's 40+, there's 5 or 6 of us, etc., we're all trying to go to work on Monday too.

As far as stalling the bike - maybe once, twice a weekend.

Tried one off-road. Didn’t care for it...
bump starting option is gone....
Freewheeling going downhill is not good when you are relying on engine braking.

First learn that it's "MOTOCROSS". Second, get one because they are great.

I absolutely loved the rekluse for MX and offroad. I hated it for extreme enduro though. I have very good clutch control, which made me struggle in the really slow technical sections.

But like I said, on mx i absolutely loved it. Probably because I'm not much of a motocross guy anymore so it helped me focus on line selection and jumps a little more at faster paces.

You need to understand that it’s a tool, and if you don’t take the time to learn to use the tool effectively then you probably won’t see the benefit from it. I think a lot of guys just bolt it on and think that they’re going to immediately see an improvement in their riding and be able to use it as a handicap, but the truth is there are a lot of benefits that may not be evident at first and will take time to feel out. For me I really enjoy having it, especially off-road, but there are little intricacies that can make riding the track much easier as well that go beyond simply not stalling the bike.
