Sounded like a 150F I think. As far as the karts go....from what I remember the fastest karts on the tracks are usually the 85cc and 125cc 2 strokes. But It's been a good 7 - 8 yrs since I've looked into them....things could have changed.

That looks like so much fun. I can't imagine how awesome it would be to have a few karts out there racing at once!

So jealous. Chad really can move on 4 wheels too, I remember him being at the Race of Champions a couple years back and he was giving guys who had been racing on 4 wheels all their lives fits lol

It really does suck to be Chad Laughing

In case anybody missed it the first time it was posted, the guys at MXA did a great article about the Musgrave's (Billy and Willy) racing at the Karting Super Nationals.

Read about it here

Looks like the engine position gives you an awkward driving position: No room to get your right elbow down.

Difference between motocross and karting is that they both are fun to do, but only one is fun to watch on video (especially on slow motion)...

Can you race the 250f go cart against the 250 2 stroke???????

Then we can end this debate once and for all......LOL

Being an avid karter, that 4-stroke setup is one big hunk of metal you don't want to bolt on your chassis. Karting is about 2-strokes and always will be, the 4-stroke class is a joke. I'm amazed to see Chad isn't running Arrow chassis, you'd think he'd support his country's brand. I run both Birel and Arrow chassis and prefer the Arrow for now, but both are great chassis.

The 4-stroke would get smoked, literally. Honestly, most guys who buy shifter karts get spanked by guys in sprint karts because they don't know how to drive the shifters....shifters get really excited when they bang gears down the straight away and pass you in a straight line, but then they get real sad when you leave them behind in the turns. Moving from moto to karting the tendency is to always want a shifter, but that's not the way to go. You get a sprint kart until you are at the elite level and then move to shifters. You would be amazed how much you have to tinker with your setups throughout the day in karting. It's basically mini F1.

Reed has tested V8 Supercars and late model stuff in the states. He might be OK with shifters. Chad may know what he's doing, maybe.Wink

That's funny, I've done my share of testing too...doesn't mean shit. Do you know how many professional drivers come out to the local kart races and get beat by regulars like myself? Alex Tagliani, Dan Wheldon, Phil Giebler, Jamie McMurray, Max Papis, Scott Speed are just a few off the top of my head,....oh, and let's not forget about Michael Schumacher either.

Testing in a V8 supercar is about as far as you can get away from karting bud, it's a different animal.

There is no 250f or 250 2 stroke class. 125 Shifters are the fastest class. The most popular class is called Tag - 125cc 2 Stroke, Centrificul Clutch & Electric Start. Tags are typically only a few 1/10ths of the shifters per lap, but no tranny to blow up & the electric start is awesome. Both are much harder on the body than you would expect, I've thrown up & cracked ribs driving just because of the side to side g-force. Tons of fun, harder than you would expect.

That 4 stroke 250 looks like a blast. Don't know how much I like the thought of my arm resting on the spark plug wire though.

That's right. Much easier on a kart to keep it at peak RPM & not rely on the longer power curve / torque of the 4 stroke. 2 stroke beats the 4 stroke hands down on peak hp.

What Black Diesel Bomber said!

BRP Rotax has a kart specific engine with a unique design that doesn't utilize a chain. The lower CG allows the kart to out perform most other karts.

It might "only" be a two speed but it is the most fun I've ever had with my clothes on.

Yes Rock, the DD2 is a great package and they have been trying to grow that class in the US for several years but it's too expensive for the current economy...I race a Rotax 125cc in TAG/Rotax class and our program has taken a hit with the economy due to the high cost. The growing class is now is the PRD class because it's a cheap engine from China that costs a fraction of the price.

Anyway, there is a 4-stroke karting class called world formula but it's lame. As for a 250f motor on a kart, I guess it would be the equivalent of showing up to an MX track with a GSXR motor in your bike.....
