KYB lower tubes, lugs, AOS spring internals with a WP upper tube...it's a combination that Enzo and a few others have done.

Shock is a WP body and adjuster, with a bladder conversion and what appears to be a Showa 18mm shaft and Pro Circuit A-kit clevis

Basically the KYB and Showa tubes have been developed around more rigid aluminum frames and the WP designed around the chromoly steel chassis.

Thanks Michael. So no KYB logos because of the mix match bits? And he’s also not ruining X-Trigs due to the new upper tubes. Although I’d say he could have gotten some if he really wanted them.

The X-Trig clamps he had were made for the KYB tubes, which have a smaller upper tube clamping surface. This switch was made late in the week so he went with the stock clamps he tested with. If this is the direction he wants to go parts-wise, I wouldn't be surprised to see him back with X-Trigs in the next week or so, he really likes the product.

Well... I guess the guy at Technical Touch wasn't yanking my chain to much, when he mentioned there are a number of pro riders running KYB/Showa internals inside there WP set ups.

Trying to cut the chain link, off the chain that Chad has Goose chained to the bike with laughing . Sorry Goose, it was just too easy.

That's really cool info ML. You would never here about that during the race broadcast.
I didn't even know that was even possible...

if you're gonna be dumb, you better be tough

Whoo hoo! a technical thread with answers thanks op and ml. Very cool stuff, on a similar but much lower level im trying to get kx cartridges into open klx outers

and results will be the same. we will continue to improve little by little, he is awesome for sure but a new fork wont change much in the way of finishes.

More importantly.........who's Honda Grom with the Yoshimura exhaust in the background? Daytona is a huge (YUGE...Trump) place. Definitely need to get around the pits/track/etc. That thing should at least have white plastic and a ProCircuit exhaust, haha!!!!!!!!

You didnt see a huge improvement last weekend?

|

3/9/2018 6:04 PM

I'm imagining the podium speech. "I'd like to thank my KYshowaP suspension for making my bike handle amazingly out there tonight..." HaHa!

Just keeping Goose busy is about it. Fork change wont help him at this point, it will just be an excuse to fall back on why he's getting lapped. A simple swap to a heavier spring and a couple turns on the clickers to make up for the weight he's gained would give the same result.

So has he tested the 52mm and trax shock that the factory teams are running? I can't imagine a baller like Reed wouldn't be able to blag some of the works WP stuff...

He should've used a calibrated wrench. Like mine.

When's the guy gonna learn?

From my understanding, not on this bike.

Getting at set is do-able with cash...but the support to tune and set them up could be a bigger problem.

Another thing I noticed is Chad swapping to the steel engine mount on that chassis, which comes stock with aluminum engine hangers. Steel is what Dungey and Musquin used on last year's KTM 450 SX-F while the Husky team typically used the stock aluminum ones on theres...250 Husky and KTM teams typically use a carbon fiber one or the aluminum ones.

You could get what he has with cash. Except for mechanic Goose you can buy what he has and be a privateer, but first you need some talent.
