Just finished listening the the Jeff Ward podcast, he talked at length about car racing and the success he had. He made it clear that car racing success was directly related to sponsorship dollars.

Absolutely....a mediocre driver with more money will go faster than the best drivers with less money...that's how it is on 4 wheels. It's a little different on the dirt where someone like RC can ride a stock bike and smoke good riders on works bikes. It doesn't work that way on 4 wheels.

I definitely think it is way more important in NASCAR and Indy car where you only go wide open in the top gear and in a sport like Formula 1 where Mercedes dominates every year because they spend the most money but IMSA uses BoP and if a car is to fast they handicap it or give the other cars more power or aero etc. The best drivers still shine. I have seen a driver swap teams and still charge to the front. Trent Hindman is a prime example. He has driven for BMW,Porsche,Ford , Lamborghini and back to Porsche and Acura and has won in all the cars. The series Chad is in they use Lamborghini race cars that a customer can buy. They all use the same car like Porsche GT3 Cup or Ferrari Challenge.

Trying to get this right... theres 19 cars spread across 4 classes so about 5 cars per class. The race was 50 minutes split by 2 drivers per car.

So they drove about a 25 minute race against 4 other cars. I mean c'mon. This is some Palm Beach billionaires backyard fun time.

You'd get stiffer competition in a backwoods Alabama Late Model race.

And the transition is coming reed said. 37 years old. Not much longer we will see him at the tracks and he will be doing his 4 wheel career.

This is Pro-Am racing and I believe this is a pay to play ride right now too. Lets wait until he gets in a big league car to see what he can do.

Some of those late model races are pretty serious. World of Outlaws same deal. Tons of competition and lots of cubic dollars being spent

Your point is valid but open wheeled doesn't automatically mean more talented.

What’s funny is Billy there grew up in Moto and made it up to local pro before switching to Karts. Him and his dad also house Reed’s kart on the West Coast as a part of their business, along with many others.
