It was a bit unusual seeing him running Dunlops on the Yamaha at the MEC, after making the move to Pirelli (which was supposed to be tied to the Discount Tire deal).

I would guess the factory Yamaha thing isn't happening and he'll be with JGR in some form. Discount Tire is with Penske in NASCAR and there's probably something with that contract that will keep Discount Tire from being involved. I don't see him walking away without a final year, he's got enough value to fans to put something together.

Its strange we haven't heard anything official from anyone. Could Chad be left without a ride come supercross? With A1 only a couple of months away I think its cutting things a bit fine.

That is what I was thinking. At this point I'm guessing he is just looking for a bike to ride. It is amazing that a guy who carries the publicity that Chad does, can't get something pulled together.

My guess is he will be under the RCH tent worst case scenario. Gets his gear and monster money plus a performance based contract. Just simply not a lot of money left. He and Roczen get along pretty well.

The JGR thing is a other possibility. Granted, you would have thought if that were an option they would have thrown him under their tent at MEC.

Worst case scenario I guess he does have a box van a couple YZFs sitting around. It's like a repeat above the pre-TwoTwo days.

Could it be that he's just simply referring to the fact that no more Two-Two Motorsports race team means his connection to Discount Tire is in a limited capacity? I can't imagine the individual sponsorship they provide would be cause for the same level of contribution from Chad as when they were a title sponsor.

I'm not sure how "cheap' is cheap, but whoever gets him, they will be getting one bell of a deal for one of the top riders in terms of publicity. Hope all works out for the guy!

How can people still count him out? I feel like I've read that "he's too old" since at least 2010. That's why he started two two in 2011: because he was "washed up". I find it surprising that people still say this every year. He had an off year in 2015 but still won a race. How many riders can say that?

So can Carmichael, does that mean he's worthy of a current factory ride? This is a young man's game. I'm not saying Reed can't pull a win out of the hat, but he's definitely peaked out. If he hadn't, he would already have a deal.
