This was interesting to me that Reed is thinking about signing an extra 2 more years if everything goes well for him next year. Looking at his AUS-X performance, he looks happy!! http://www.motoonline.com.au/2016/11/14/reed-targeting-two-year-yamaha-…

Wouldnt be that hard go contemplate, I'd say it'd be a full blown season in '18 then perhaps more of a riding/coaching/mentor roll for the team in' 19.

The lads making bank while having fun, no reason to throw that in!

He talks about Vale training with kids, and he's only gotta do 17 races... I'd bet he could do it for 5+ if he wanted too.

REED is pure warrior.....fear hasnt bitten him yet, which is good.....unlike for kevin windam who talked about when the fear of injury surpasses the drive to race.....Now im not bashing KW,those were his words during a interview around the time he was doing those "Transfer Jumps"....but as anything else ,as you get older that state of limitations is very differant for each person....if CR feels good then keep racing....if he does not feel 100%....well even his 75%is pretty darn good....so if hes just not willing to do it he can just call it a day.......Mcgrath can still ride his ass off....Doug Dubach is no joke i go out in Mammoth practice with the guy and hes over 50...and damn he hauls the mail ......so Reed is quit the guy....never backs down and always in the fight....might not win another championship ,but HAS!....think about all the guys who would love to get a 3rd....4th...5th..6th...in the top 10 for that matter....let Reed go out on his terms and we all can enjoy him out there till that day comes

Good on him, seems legit to me that he could race competitively for 2 more seasons...

Reed is in the same boat the Kdub was in during his last few years. He will continue to show up as long as A) he is having fun, Cool he feels competitive, C) he isnt getting hurt D) doenst get a yellow streak.

Kdub finally hung his boots up because he kept getting hurt, the work to stay competitive was getting too much, and he was getting scared to be out on the track and do what it took to up front.

One of my favorite riders. But if he does this, brace yourself for the he's just riding for a paycheck comments.

Reed looks hungry. The relationship with Rossi and Yamaha seems to have given him a new lease on (moto)life. What a great example for his kids. Focus on what you really want in life, then go after it with everything you have. Forget the naysayers.

This is pretty damn cool if it ends up happening. Wish James would get that kind of determination again. He took 2 years off and came back looking like George Foreman. Except I think George was thinner. Strict diet of vanilla shakes and Krisy Kreme doughnuts. Reed comes back ripped and ready for A1 two months early.

You live once. Might as well! I've grown to respect his warrior mentality. As in he isn't really a title threat anymore but he don't give a fuck. Still loves to line up and do battle and maybe win some here and there. Nothing wrong with that! Stewart could take some notes at this point.

Reed has long been known as excellent rider for setting up bikes. I know Honda HRC praised him for his skills and other riders immediately starting using his set-ups.

Maybe having Coop around made him push harder this off season.
He said they never actually saw each other. Chad was in California, while Coop went back to N.C. The one week Coop was at Yamaha, he left before Chad showed up the second half of the week.

If I'd just won a SX race at age 30+, I'd be thinking about two more seasons too.

Reed is a machine, and also a headcase. When he's fit, having fun, and all the planets come into alignment...you're a fool to count him out of anything. When things are not clicking...he might as well stay home.

Minus the fact that his stay home days are still inside the top 10

Well said. As long as Chad is happy, feeling good & wants it...no reason for him to quit. Like I posted earlier, if his head is in the game, he's in the game.

Right now Chad has 44 SX wins. Where will he finish? He said he wanted to pass RC in SX wins, but will he go for James?

Good grief. This is to keep him on the list. If he says he is quitting, no one will offer him a deal later.

I heard he is good for 5 more years and James at least 3.

I honestly think Reed will win at least one race this season. With how he looked at the AuzX Open on (and off) the bike.... he's fit, fast, and flowing. Not to mention he seems happy with life.... That's what it takes now days to be successful at anything.

Looking forward to this year for Reed, it's been a few years since he's come into an SX season without an injury from the previous year.
