Think if he gets a good start he could hold his position. Overall good ride for Reed. Good to see him gain positions.

I was worried too, then with him almost last off the start.. he rode great

I think he will have plenty of top 10s in him this year. But a top 5 or podium in this field won't be easy.

His corner speed was zero. Bike didnt work with track like JGR test track videos have seen. Looked just too rigid and like he was riding it without confidence. There are so many top riders doesnt look he will fight top10 anytime soon in dry conditions.

Chad never really excelled in the wet clay, he is great in the wet slop tho..
18th to 9th was pretty damn good..

If he was cutting me open I'd be worried. Still better than a lot.

Did anyone catch that he denied the fist bump from his mechanic on the gate for the lcq? Pretty funny

Great ride! I look for his best rides to come in the second half of the season.

He and Webb were moving through the pack at one point. Rode tight them loosened up and seemed to enjoy it. Could see the respect Webb has for Reed early in the main

A podium or a top 5 would have been achievable with a good start, so great ride indeed !

Where has his great starts on the suzuki disappeared too?

Tough to get a start in the mud with the 20th gate pick. I think that was a bigger factor than the bike.

To all those guys that asked if he could be competitive and suggested he just hang it up.....9th place. He beat 13 others in the main, and was moving forward. Hill was 15th, Reed might be JGRs #1 guy.

He was riding to finish. Get 1 race down be safe and finish then on to the next round. He will be fine

Not a Reed fanboy, but he could've mailed in the sloppy ride after the first turn fubar. Top 10 impressive!

I’m interested to hear what he has to say (if anything) about being well off the pace in qualifying and his heat.
I’m not surprised, however, that he rode through some folks in the wet.

I kind of sensed a weird vibe between them

Of the 11 (Reed being one of them) that were at the Fri. press conference, 5 finished out of the top ten. Good job Reed! Well done.

Reed needs to be realistic at this point in his career and see if he can place top 5. Top 3 isn’t likely to happen in my opinion.

I think Chad will finish in the 8 - 12 position most of the season. Considering his age and the competition he's facing that's fantastic. It might be a tough pill for his ego to swallow given his career at or near the top but his fans are happy he's out there doing so well. Yep, I'm a fan.smile

Doubting him all of last year worked pretty well

Remember in the press conference when they said that one of the 11 on the stage would end up outside of the top 10?

It was a lot more than that!

Brayton
Baggett
Anderson
Hill
Savatgy

Good on Reed for grabbing a top 10.

I'm a bit confused - they kept talking about Reed breaking LaRocco's record for most consecutive main event starts last night but didn't Reed break that record last season?

Correction: it was the highly coveted "18th straight Anaheim 1 main event start" record that he broke last night.
