Does Eli finish second in points when it’s all set and done? I know it seems crazy but I think we start to see Roczen slip a little bit.

idk
Kenny has been outside the top 3 in two motos. Once in the first moto of the season and once today after a crash - but not because he didnt have the speed or faded.
Tomac has been inside the top 3 twice only in 8 motos...

That said, ET will probably smash everyone at Southwick next week and we'll see what happens next

Another thought, was it actually faster to jump the leap? Eli didn’t do it once the second moto. Maybe if you could hit it 100% clean from the inside but I didn’t see that happen all day. If you went far outside you would lose everything you gained by jumping it.

Did you not watch the British gp? Ktm does exist outside the USA.

Eli did not jump Laroccos Leap which is why the Plessinger and Ferrandis were catching him. Had the line to leap been better they would not have gained so much and the lappers this year were thick. Southwick will be a telling story for Tomac.

Eli not jumping it tells you something about his thinking these days. Risk vs Reward is more in his mind now.

BUT that he turned his fastest lap on the last lap when DF was catching him says a lot too. No doubt he is back.

Still makes you wonder who rode his bike in rounds 1 & 2.

Moto 1 he was right there but somehow lost his flow at the end. You wonder why. Thought for sure he would get 3rd or better.

For real, I hope he tried to yank it back and it wouldn't go or something we didn't see. I was surprised to see him ride off like that.

We missed1st motos live and just finished watching 450 Moto 1. Biggest surprise was how many people passed Webb on the 1st lap.

Wonder if AP just needs a little more cardio conditioning? He's been looking really good on that Yamaha

Factory bikes with custom geometry frames and a whole lot of other stuff not allowed on production based AMA bikes. Apples to oranges.

They weren’t catching him there. They were catching him in the section between the 2 tabletops. I rewatched the race a few minutes ago and I didn’t notice much speed difference between jumping or not. The only time where I saw jumping the leap making a difference that mattered is when AP hucked it in moto 1 to keep Eli behind him. But AP hit it clean from the middle, he didn’t have to go completely to the bottom to do it. Also, Eli ran the 3rd fastest lap of the race on the final lap not jumping it so it couldn’t have been to much of a deal breaker.

To me, the leap looked downright dangerous this year. He jumped it a few times in practice and in moto 1. They probably pulled the data between jumping it vs not and decided it wasn’t worth the risk. Surprised no one blew a wheel on it all day.

Agree that it was not worth the risk. But I also think this is one reason why AP7 was able to stay with Eli.

So are those Yamaha's why AP and DF could do the leap all day? Or did they just have more courage?

Chase Sexton had something to say about it in his interview with Matthes.

Where was that interview at? I looked on RacerX and I couldn’t find it. Thanks to anyone who posts it!
