I've been following this project for 3 years now, ever since I first heard about it from a good friend working at Red Bull. At first I thought for sure my friend was full of shit because regardless of how big RB goes this was truly out of this world. Many years and dollars later they are ready to send Felix 18 miles up into the stratosphere in a space capsule/weather balloon. From there he will step out into a near vacuum and free fall back to earth breaking all kinds of records but the big goal is to see if they can crack through the sound barrier in human freefall. Sick

I have also been following that Craiger, saw Felix on Leno, dude is a nutjob! He was on it w/ the dude who did it in the 60's and is helping w/ the project (his names escapes me right now) The whole deal is so mind blowing.

Joe Kittinger. That dude has a sack. He jumped in the early sixties I think and the whole thing was so unknown. He had a breach in one of his gloves and his hand swelled up the size of a grapefruit. RB is streaming the event live so it's gonna be amazing to see how it goes. Here's a pic of Joe taken the leap of faith 50 yrs ago. Check out the toolbox strapped to his ass.

Then look at Felix's setup. So tits.

Joe Kittenger has been consulting on this RB Stratos project since the beginning. Look at what he wore. The photos of him falling back to earth make no sense. Can you imagine the total mindfuck it must be floating up to space and knowing the only way home is jumping.

Joe said when he first jumped out for a while he thought he was floating instead of falling due to the thin air. Crazy!!!

The Red Bull Stratos project is something I have been involved with for 5 years. I welded the internal structure at Sage Cheshire in Lancaster, Ca. There, I was able to meet Joe Kittinger, who's sharp as a tack at 84 years old. Even went to Anaheim SX with Felix and the crew from Sage Cheshire a while back. Felix is a great guy and real motocross enthusiast. Here are some pictures of the internal frame (I also made all of the camera mount frames on top of the capsule), and a commemorative medal of the jump from 97, 000 feet from a couple of months ago. Hope everything goes well. Wish I could be there.

Exactly like Forrest Gump, except he was rich. I'm Bruce Gump, Forrest Gumps poorer brother.

All 4130 Chromoly. 3 in total were made. 2 for testing and one flight vehicle.

Nice work Bruce!! Such an intense project, something that even NASA could be proud of. Looking forward to the leap!
I was invited out to the RB Air Races in San Diego 2009 and this is when I first heard about it. I seriously didn't believe they were going to do this but here we are! No limits.

That is absolutely positively insane!!

Hope it goes exactly as planned. Imagine the mental preparation this guy will have to have. No backing out.
