No more BYOB in the track and the trackside parking on the southwest corner of the track has become a reservation purchase. I suppose I could see the handwriting on the wall after MXON in regards to bringing beer in. The reservation method for that parking area is nice because you don't have to get to the track at zero dark thirty anymore. On the other side of the coin they took away the spectator lane in that area and it costs $100 to get a spot on the fence. $$$

I paid the $100.00 with a slight grudge this morning. We've been parking in that area for maybe 10 years now. Always had another family with us in the spot next over. Now we'll split the cost and share. Just sucks a bit to see the prime areas go over to VIP areas and now this. A hundred bucks (plus fees) can make or break a weekend for some families. I love MX and Red Bud, this will be year 25 for me. But, dang.....it's getting pricey. And I just can't justify the cost of the VIP. To each his own I guess. And you are right about the arrival time. Not leaving the hotel at 4am is a bonus. No beer? I didn't see that....dang!! Not a huge drinker but, I do like a cold barley pop or two during our day there.

I saw the no more BYOB thing coming as well after MXoN. Not too pumped on that. Beer there used to be reasonable. Can only imagine it will be $6 plus now.

You will be able to buy beer at the concessions I believe.

Canopies and VIP areas are not the answer to getting more people at the Nationals. I'm not going to Red Bud this year. Better viewing at Millville and the track is better too. All the track changes they've been making at Red Bud have been a massive step in the wrong direction in my opinion.

Better than nothing I guess. Just more convenient and cheaper to bring in a six pack. Thanks for the info though.

I'm all for the tracks making money, but all these $ viewing areas blocking access to prime spots at the tracks is lame.

I don't drink at the races but that is lame.

Seems like it's a good way to nickle and dime fans away from the track and onto the couch.

Apparently you need to hide your beer. ;-)

I just noticed something else I am curious about. Has VIP always been an "add on" to your general admission ticket?

They can take our beer, but they can never take our Bud. Read into that as you will.

I’m staying home this year. Hope everyone has fun but I can’t ever see what’s going on when you are up close in person. Save the cash and watch it on the TV...with my drink.

I'm still going but I just park in the general lot and hike around most of the day. I do have a group of friends that bailed out this year over the escalating prices and no byob.

Probably needs to make some $$ to pay for all the landscaping that needed done after the des nations mud destruction...

Anyhow assuming payouts will go up as promoter is taking in more cash??? Evil

I was able to fit just over 40 beers in 2 empty chair bags at MXON. Take that bit of advise if you will.

Just go to Red Bud any weekend before the national and bury your 30-pack now. You’ll drunkenly thank me later.

That is funny. As far as tips, only been there once, and that was for Nations. Managed to get through the back entrance (Southwest side) alot earlier on Sunday than they were supposed to let fans in. We got the top of the bleachers near the ski jump, and I have to say those are the best general admission seats we could find. Could see the mechanics area, the top of the ski jump and everything until after they jump over toward the sand rollers. We let Courtney Roczen squeeze in next to us for the motos because it was the best place she had access to. Only thing you miss really is the sand rollers, Laroccos leap (which is a bummer) and the finish line jump. I bet you have gotta be the first one there though to score that top row.... Here are a few pictures of what Nations looked like before dawn on raceday before any other fans arrived. Sorry the quality is crappy, old phone

I don't get all the bitching about certain aspects of the race experiencing costing more. Red Bud owners have huge yearly experiences to put on such an awesome event.

Most fans only attend their "hometown" Nationals, so in all reality, they have a year to scrap together and save a few hundred bucks for a national event.

Those bitching about the prices are the folks that go unplanned, or are just cheap, and they get sticker shock.

National motocross races are still some of the best bang-for-you buck events and having VIP options brings more revenue into the sport.

I posted on here that they wouldn't allow beer at the MXDN and people thought I was crazy. This is RED BUD they yelled. Not only was that in fact the rule but the national has followed its lead. The uncontrolled beer was getting out of hand now they will limit your consumption by your wallet.

Is Red Bud going back to using the regular starting gate rather than the MXoN start that they forced the track to build?

I really didnt like the moving of The Leap and that "Hockey stick" section and if they keep that roller as you lead up to Larocco's Leap then the track will be a shell of itself compared to my first trip there 5 years ago.

Get a deep cooler and put your beers in the bottom with a layer of Coca Cola cans on top. Works every time at washougal.

Wonder how much they charged these USGP fans for their prime access back in the day?

If someone wants to send me a 6 pack of these bad boys I'll cover your $100 parking/beer fund. Seriously.
