I’m looking at a 2020 KX450, but can’t get past that ugly ass silencer. Can anyone recommend a replacement that looks better? I honestly don’t care about performance as the bike is all I can handle, but just can’t stomach the look of the stock silencer. The Pro Circuit looks is slightly better looking , but wondering if there’s something any better?

Alternatively, had anyone tried using old style plastics that offer a little better coverage to hide that hideous thing?

Thanks!

I’m happy with the PC t-6 slip on for my 21 450. Much better looking, good exhaust note and a little lighter. 20 hours on it and it’s holding up great.

I couldn’t agree more. A bigger plate would look way better.

Does anyone have first hand experience with the 2019-2022 KX450 with the HGS exhaust on it? Looks a lot like the Yoshimira header pipe with a shorter more PC like muffler. Does it add power everywhere? I found the PC pipe to be more top end centric. We are considering running them on our bikes this year and I would love an honest review. I found this YouTube of a guy just running the bike on the stand, it sounds good.

This is my video from when I had the KX450. The pipe made more power everywhere, but if I'm honest was a bit loud. Very well made though

Rocket black ano silencer looks trick. But after an email or two regarding the vital discount, he went silent on me and so i went an FMF. If you go fmf get your subframe braced at the exh mount. Missed out on a podium at a large race in vets, as boy they lose a lot of power when its looking at you lap after lap on the side of track. So do the spectators!
Fmf is loudish but people comment it sounds good.

How would a shorter muffler change the power? More low end or more top end?

I have a Yosh on my 2020. I think all the pipes look terrible with the small, short number plates. I really like the torque and smoothness the Yosh pipe did for my bike.

Rocket does look great, but customer service isn’t the best. I’ve got one for my CRF 250.

Cut the muffler 4” shorter and put the end cap back on. I did this on a 2013 and it looked great. No noticeable change in sound or performance.

had a fmf, it broke at the mount rivets after about a year. PC is heavier but seems to be built better.

Do not do this. Back pressure goes out the window.

There was no noticeable difference in performance. I’ve experienced a greater loss of back pressure going with an aftermarket head pipe or fmf muffler.

I just purchased the DRD one. haven't got it in yet.
My slip on came in. Sounds great. Seems to have cut the snap down low back a little and moved it up toward the top.

My local bike shop called me today and said that the backordered silencer was finally able to be ordered (for 21 kx250) so call up your shop today! You may be able to order one.

I tried private messaging you...not sure if it worked.

Just bought a 2021 and I have the same question. Is it worth going full exhaust or just the slip-on?

I have the new style Yosh and plan on cutting it down about 2 1\2 inches this winter . I cut 3 inches off my sticker and didn't notice any power difference either

It could depend on your riding style or tracks you ride. If you are wide open or tracks are high speed, you may not notice a lack of back pressure (which translates to snap off the bottom). But tight tracks with jumps out of corners are hard to make for me when that occurs. This happens to with silencers that have different tips with smaller/larger openings.

I had an FMF slip on and it didn't do much except look good. But I put a full yosh on and was really surprised at how much it boosted the power throughout the range. Highly recommend if you can find one. :-)

I wrote it back to back with the stock muffler with the new style.yosh system and it was a nice improvement but not earth shattering

I agree I don't ride supercross style tracks too much anyway and that damn muffler so big even with the new style. I think you could use couple inches off lol
