Locked up my trusty Kawi 250F today.181 hours on the motor. Cannonballed a valve into the piston and destroyed errything cept cases and transmission. Here is my parts list off motosport. This is everything I need to replace. But it is a completely OEM rebuild. True Kawasaki parts.

I am not intending on purchasing parts for a rebuild. Just a heads up. I am sending the motor to pro circuit and was quoted $2275 for a almost entirely modded race motor. Minus a few things.

You can buy some higher end components for less money. I know some guys love to buy everything OEM, even OEM inner tubes and spark plugs, but do some research and save yourself some money, and you'll get better stuff. Everything from your crankshaft to your valves can be found for a little less money. And ou forgot to buy rings, wrist pin, clips, gaskets, seals, plug, maybe a few more items.

Now here is basically everything I need, Not completely stock Kawasaki. Few nicer parts. The price difference is pretty interesting though.

This is not a purchase I was intending on making. I am actually sending the entire motor to pro circuit. I just thought a few people would be interested to see what the cost to rebuild would be. And yeah the parts lists arent inclusive, there are a few things that I already have and some stuff that I wouldn't replace so i didnt bother looking for them on the parts list.

My next post shows the same thing you mean ha. And that was just the parts I didn't already have. But an OEM innertube can kiss my ass, I will be buying that 8$ tough tube all day long.

Pro-Circuit Woohoo

Hope you get an estimate before you send them your motor. You'll be spending much more than your estimates so far.

Is it worth the cost to bring that back to life? Deminishing return comes to mind

Not at all. I can buy a crate motor for around the same price as the parts alone.

Could you please provide a link to the place where you can buy a brand new crate engine for less than $2500?

Thank you

You want to try that list over here from Honda......scary!

I paid £45 for OEM front brake pads haha (only place I could get Nissin ones)

Wouldn't it be easier / cheaper to just part out the bike and buy another one? Or just buy a second-hand head or something like that. And it seems like there may be some other components inside the head you maybe could reuse? For the price of that engine, you could buy a complete bike here in Australia (even a decent condition KX250F).

Feridax! Feridax import genuine Nissin brake pads in to the UK. And they're not too badly priced.

Partzilla is a little cheaper.
Beat me to it. I've called them before, most of their parts are nearly at cost
Partzilla just expect a week before shipping. Also their online shopping cart blows. It wont save your shopping cart after an hour.
