Just wondering how people read an emag (internet based magazine) vs how they would pick up and read a print magazine?, What do you think of Online mags like Adam Wheeler's OnRoad Off Road bi weekly mag and Geoff's Motocross Illustrated or online Cycle News?

Gotta say I tend to skim read a lot more and also selectively choose which pages to open from the underbar, often not bothering to open advert double page spreads.
With a print mag, I will read virtually every page, even the ads, so I would think print mag ads would be a better ROI than online magazines for advertisers?
Also I think online advertisers need to re-look at how they lay out ads, make the content a lot more appealing, than just re-hashing their current campaigns into an online ad, perhaps including video clips to engage the reader etc.
What do you guys think? and girl's? how do you read online and do you see them as two seperate entities.?

Printed mags' they fit on the back of the crapper better than an IPad , and don't break, if they fall off.

Well i love readin the mags while on travel or on the move or whatever. And since i don't own a Tablet or Smartphone it's a no brainer to go for the mags. Funny enough my local news paper shop recently started selling the RacerX magazine so i'm pretty stoked on that Smile .

I don't read a single online mag. I like printed mags! Must have one to take a shit.

I get all my mags via Zinio to a google Nexus tablet. Best thing ever - I can carry all my mags with me and read em wherever, like the coffee shop, on the plane, on the couch etc. With a hi-res tablet the images are really clear and bright, so much better than on paper. Plus I can enlarge the print for my ageing eyes...

I'm sold.

Love the tactile nature of a fresh racer x, but damn e-zines are convenient!! Zinio just downloads, they're there waiting.... Tho sometimes I actually forget to read the electronic versions... Whereas my fresh mag will be on the book stool next to the potty. Then I just have to decide between madskills and magazine...

Mags, I won't read one on line.

Print, I ordered one online subscription to Racer X never finished reading any of the first couple of issues. Ultimately never even went back to try and read them. Wound up buying copies off the rack until I finally subscribed to the print edition. Wonder if this is an age thing. I'm 47 hate technology....and yes I ride vintage bikes as well.

Print all the way. I want something I can touch and read whether I have a dead battery or not.

I have had several online subscriptions that I never once looked at. I am using a laptop with cords and all, the only way an online sub would make sense is if I had some more convenient device and I had to fly a lot for work or something. even then I prefer a nice glossy mag. Im not sure that a few of us die hards can save the industry, though., Some of my favorite streetbike mags are now monthly leaflets compared to the good old days...good old days of print magazines being ten years ago and earlier? or so

Nothing better than a paperback mag. I have tons of old mags at home and recently, or at least a few years back the Colonel who posts here on Vital passed all his old RacerX's my way along with a few other brand mags inbetween.

I always have at least 50 mags in the shithouse, my bed side cabinet is stocked and I just keep rotating them..never get tired of the old mags.

Recently I got a Racex subscription for my Ipad and its not the same. I cannot sit on the crapper with a Ipad and not google Scarlett Johanssen or some other spoonie

So my take is a mag is better, may cost more in the long run but at least you can wipe your arse if you run outta bog-role....

Mags for sure. I read Cycle News online but usually blow by stuff that's of little interest to me. Even articles that do interest me, I find myself skimming. Not sure why. I think it's just more pleasant to read if you can take a print mag to a comfortable chair and relax while reading it.

I went to e-mags with all my MX Subs, Street Bike subs and a few others and found I never read them and eventually let the subs lapse. Paper mags I'd likely still be receiving multiple mags per month.

I don't read physical magazines anymore, and I don't know anyone else who does.

E-mags seem like a fad to me, because they are trying to replicate the print media magazine experience plus a few embedded videos etc... as I understand you need an app on an ipad to view most of them? why not just view a website? That makes more sense to me.
