Hi guys, I would like to know how do you keep a raw metal pipe (Factory Fatty) looking new. Hitting it with a scotch brite pad really mess the factory finish, so how can you keep it looking shinny? I spray WD-40 on it, but I have to rub it anyway in order to remove dirt stains, any suggestions?

I hit mine with wd40 after every wash and give it a scrub with a pad, minty fresh.

If it gets crappy looking use a brillo pad or steel wool and a mixture of 50/50 water and bleach. Cleans it right up

I’ve used this with good results. If you want a mirror finish like it was when new use 00 steel wool and mother metal polish

I've had excellent luck with Maxima SC1, I wash my bike like normal then just spray it on right over the water.

+1 to steel wool. Great to clean exhuast on bikes, exhaust tips on cars (little Lacquer thinner for tar and oil will help) also this will sound crazy to some but does wonderful cleaning the windows on cars. Don’t try scotch brite on windows as you’ll need a new window. But steel wool will do wonders.

Cleaning - CLR & scotch bright usually then hit welds with torch. To keep looking good Fluid Film works really well and makes pipe look shiny...........

Maxima mppl works really good and doesnt burn off as easily as wd40. Supposedly it builds up a protective barrier over time.

Pictured is a YZ125 stock pipe which has been stripped down and coated with VHT High Temp Clear about 13 hrs ago. The color is a bit off but zero maintenance since coating. I would do this again.

Naval Jelly, rinse with Hondabrite to neutralize the acid of the naval jelly and use grey scotchbrite to brush pipe then polish with a lint free rag. I never use WD-40 as it seems to burn and make pipe cleaning more difficult.

Did you have to cure the paint in an oven or anything? I tried this once and didnt have a way to cure it except a few heat cycles on the bike. The next time i rode it, the paint softened up and had sand stuck to it.

I use ballistol on mine. It’s most commonly used as a CLP for firearms but you can get it easily on Amazon.

Spray it on let it sit for a minute and then hose it off, follow up with WD40 and a paper towel....
