A friend had a Rickman 125. I forget the engine maker. He let me ride it in the alley while he was working on a Honda I owned. Neat bike but more show than go.

I rode a Cagiva 125 back about 1988. It had one front fork handling compression and the other handling rebound if I remember correctly. All the components on that bike seemed to be very high quality.

Penton 125 with a Sachs engine. Every time you landed off of a jump the chain adjuster bent or broke. Not rare but unusual.

Not a motocross bike, but my old boss had one of these he let me take out for a day.

Heavy, slow and amazingly enough a really unstable front end. Damn near crashed my brains out on it when I took my hands off the bars for a very brief moment.

I had a 03 Gas Gas 300 back in the day. Definitely in my top 3 for favorite bikes owned. Made an incredible woods bike for northeast conditions. GOBS of torque, low seat height, couldn't stall it ever. It was on the porky side but you really didn't notice it much because c of g was low. It was unique and it's a shame they didn't take off.

Guy had this thing up at Muddy Creek, I just rode around the pits and up on the hill behind where you parked back then, Thing had the craziest power delivery, Had a crazy strong surge and then a big hiccup, I guess from the fuel injection they hadn't figured out yet !

My '03 MC Gas Gas's's's...s

I really wanted one of those MC250's in the worst way! Very cool bikes, the one I rode had a 4speed tranny, which I did not care for. It feli like it was missing 3rd gear, with a motor that was all mid-top it was not optimal.

I've had a bunch of weird bikes, I've always had a soft spot for them.

02 TM 400MX
08 Aprilia MXV450
10 Husky CR125/144/165
10 Husky WR300
11 TM 450MX Fi
13 TM 250MX
14 TM 144MX
14 TM 250MX

There's not much weird about the Husky 125 or any of the newer TM's, just not very mainstream.

Italjet PW50, got it in almost this condition, barely used in 2000, frightening to ride, cant imagine how quick is was with a kid on it in its day

I had Italjet too as a kid. It was bought new in spring 1995. It had 50cc liquid cooled Morini engine with four speed gearbox. The engine was really powerful for a really light bike. I think it weighted around 40kg (88lbs)! Frame of the bike was bit flimsy and it had to welded several times... The bike was really fast tough. Me and my brother rode the wheels of from that thing. We sold it after a year and got KX80 to replace it

Yep 4 speed. The power delivery was extremely mellow compared to my mates YZ 250...
One of my 125's shat itself twice and the 250 not long after, but daaayum I loved the 125, (the one that actually ran).

Husky gave me a tc610 to race the 4str class in 00and 01,awsome bike. The wheelbase was 3 in longer than my cr250 and the 4 sp tranny was close ratio,it would do 70 in 1st . After the mods,hc piston, pipe, oxy fuel,it would break traction in any gear any time.

Raced flatrack on a astro 360 for 2 yrs in mid 70s,very cool bike, rightside shift and brake.

Trials on the Yamaha bikes in what,75 i think. That was fun but not a rush, not fast, like I like.

Dad raced the 430 husky auto in hare scrambles ,rode it a lot tuning it for him,be a great mud bike.

The shop I hung at in the 70s sold Yamaha,Suzuki, and Honda so got to race all that came out from 74 to 79.

A rare one was the 73 500sc, I think that was the letters, torque was it,loved the grey. Still have my 73 360.

Rare 79 Bultaco MK11 250, I had, again got it in this unrestored condition, it had contact on the tank and still had it numbers on, in about 1998, though it had a seized top end and i assume thats why it was never ridden much.

I had a 76/77? pursang with the dirt track astro motor so i just took out the orig mtr and put the
very fast peaky one in.
Only raced it a few times, didnt want to get the rest of it up to scratch to race and sold all the Bultacos
i had at the time (31/2) as 1 lot..

I still have one of these........2009 - 1st year released to the dealers. It has 165 miles on. The Marzocchi Stuff was junk. I had friends at Ohlins USA and ended up with a set of Factory Ohlins that was shipped in from Europe.

I would include a picture however it is in dry storage and I would have to work to hard to get the picture.......the last time I rode it - it spun the woodruff key...grrr.... turned out the taper on the crank and the magneto were not the same. BMW did not have a fix!! 2010 was the last year before they spun this effort of to Husky.

It is a beautiful bike.........

The countershaft and swingarm being the same pivot on the bmw is not something I'd want. Being able to load or unload the rear suspension is needed in mx. Had to be a odd feeling for a rider use to conventional design.

Surely you still can? The chain pulling on the top of the sprocket is what compresses the suspension I would have presumed.

The chain pulling on the sprocket makes the back lift , the reaction of the weight going backwards makes it squat.. Something that is important to get right on tarmac that doesnt enter your head on the dirt.
