Jason Weigandt wrote a great piece over on racer X Redux: The Silent Killer. In it he mentions that RV really has no nickname like many other riders do.

What would be a good RV nickname given his riding style, personality, racing record, etc?

Ryan "The Viper" Villopoto

Not sure but I think it may be GOAT soon....I always liked Villopodium......seems to me he is the only guy that rides like he wants to win....he doesn't rely on being smooth.....or technical.....or consistent......he attacks the track like it's his "b1^$h"......Villo deserves everything he has worked for.....the naturally talented guys like Reed and Dungey should be working harder.....I see a lot of what Carmichael had in RV.....

x2... RV rides with determination... something that we haven't seen since RC won all of us over.

Yea we all call him Villopodium too. He its an animal. He and Townley battling outdoors on the 250f's was some of the best racing ever and the guy goes for it.

You may want to see how many race wins, undefeated seasons and championships RV has compared to the GOAT before you throw the GOAT out there.

I always thought this was appropriate, but maybe a variation like the "'ginger badger". As far as
being compared to the Goat or the King, I think Ryan would rather not be compared to them, and
his seasons missed to injury has taken away his chance to equal their numbers. I think he
would be proud to just be considered one the best riders of all-time.

Nicknames need to just happen, I don't even remember what it was but remember when Stewart tried to give himself a new nickname. It doesn't work.

The only people who have the power to do it are Ralph Shaheen and Jeff Emig
