I guess Bloss being able to race at the MEC under their tent is a nice gesture but I don't see how Bogle over Bloss makes sense.

To me Bogle seems like he has more potential considering he won an outdoor 450 moto and has pretty decent results, but I haven't looked that closely to compare Bloss/Bogle moto for moto.

What makes Bloss seem like the better choice to you folks? I definitely like his personality, he seemed really grateful for the RMATV ride.

Definitely a hard decision to be made there. Both great guys that put in solid results when healthy. I do think Bloss has room to improve though, isn’t he really young but just can’t ride the 250 because of his size? He’ll eventually show everyone what he’s capable of and land in a good spot.

Bogle all day, IMO. Hoping Benny finds a good team because I don’t think we’ve seen his best performances yet

Bogle has a 250 SX Championship and an Outdoor overall win.

Benny has had a few Top 5 finishes outdoors but hasn't stayed healthy enough indoors to show what he can do. Bogle had two 4th place finishes in SX last year.

Both have had injury issues, but IMO the push goes to Bogle.

Hope Benny can get good support and show his potential. I've said this before but we need more B level rides and teams in the 450 class for guys like this.

I think people put too much stock into Bogle's only win. He went 1-3 for the overall at the end of the season 3 years ago. Tomac went 7-1 for 3rd. Davalos got 3rd in moto 1. The stars aligned more than he went out and dominated with a 1-1 and left no doubt. The points chase for the title wasn't close and most everyone was over it and waiting for the season to end. Herlings came to the next round and went 1-1. Bogle went 11-9. Great effort by Bogle to take advantage when he needed to as he had something to prove.. but I feel like Bloss has more potential moving forward. Not to take anything from either guy but if I had to choose, it'd be Bloss. I hope both of them have healthy careers and put in solid efforts!

Indoors? I honestly don't even remember if he has competed in 20 SX races. I hope he gets a good ride, but to me Bogle was an easy choice over him.

Ah I missed the indoors part my bad. His only season he really did 450 wise he finished top 10 3 times and 11th 4 times indoors. He's for sure on the verge of being a top 10 rider indoors. Hopefully he can stay healthy.

Results aside, Bloss brought his dads trucking company in and was riding for not much money. Bogle has some Indian reservation or casino and will ride for the same money so they are even there. Bogle has almost half a million followers on instagram, Bloss has thirty thousand. I know for a fact on this team it's about what people bring back to the team.

Bloss is the next WP or Freise. He would do well on a small team or someone like hep or JGR. I feel like if Reed and Budman could get their hands on him and work with him it would do wonders for his indoor game which will help him also out doors.

Bogle is a guy whose results get mega inflated by getting good starts and riding a wide bike and ultimately fading to his finishing position. Has he ever cut through the pack and into the top 10? Not sure if he was ever in the top 10 in qualifying, either.

That being said, I get the decision as Benny is still a relative unknown in SX and Bogle will pull some starts and get some top 10s.

Splitting hairs. In SX I give Bogle the edge but in MX despite the moto win and overall for Bogle in 2017, Benji is the better rider. I hope Bloss can land a good deal somewhere else. Too bad they could not fund all 3.

I would Give it to Bogle, but I hope Benny gets a ride , he has potential is still getting better , he is young, and could still be a top 10 guy or better for all we know?

I feel like you're only remembering this past season when he was struggling with EB. Pretty sure there was a race or two where he qualified inside the top 3 this year as well. I'm not a big Bogle fan, I think he is inconsistent, but his ceiling is high. His outdoor wins weren't a fluke, and I think he has top 5 speed on a good day indoors with everyone there, normally in the top 10. Pretty similar to Bagget actually, sometimes he has the speed, other times he is average.

You're right. He went 1-9. I was mistaken and must've been thinking his only overall was also his only moto win. So 2 moto wins, 1 MX overall win and 3 250 SX East wins. I still go with Bloss. As someone else said, it's a shame that they couldn't field 3 riders. Husky does it!

You just compared a full factory 450 team to a privately funded team. I can safely guess that if an OEM was willing to fund a third rider, things would have been different.

While that's a valid point, I was only comparing to them to Husky as Husky is the only team capable of winning that fields that many riders. If anything, I applaud Forrest's efforts in being able to provide equipment that a top level rider can achieve as much success as riders have, such as Baggett. If an OEM (KTM) would fund a third rider, do you mean for Red Bull or RM?

I'm saying it's not fair to compare those two teams on who has two and who has three riders. The way they are structured is completely different.

Makes sense. So what is Bobby Hewitt doing that enables him to not only have 3 top tier 450 guys but also have a full factory 250 effort? Every other 250 team, aside from Suzuki (but that's separate discussion in itself) is somewhat of a Factory Satellite. Star, PC, TLD, Geico all are not directly affiliated with the 450 teams.

The 450 team is a full factory team with salaries paid by Rockstar/Husky and equipment provided is full factory at Husky expense. The 250 team was/is owned by Bobby with Rockstar/Husky support. So, two different dynamics there also. Confusing, I know, but ownership is a little different between the two teams within one.

Forrest's team is KTM supported but equipment is leased from KTM. That's not a cheap program as you can imagine. Rider salaries are paid from sponsors like RMATVMC, WPS/FLY, Bubba Burger, 51/50, etc.

The main difference is that Anderson, Osborne, and Deano's salaries are coming from OEM/energy drink where Forrest is having to build budget for rider salary AND equipment lease. As a result, that total salary number is probably 3X the other across the scope of the teams.

Damn, that is confusing. Thanks for the insight. I think I remember hearing something about the ownership differences in the Husky 250/ 450 teams either when they switched from Suzuki to Husky or when Anderson went to 450's but I didn't realize it was like you described, nor did I think Forrest was accountable for so many expenses. Maybe KTM could throw him a bone every time Cooper uses Baggetts settings? lol
